My Target in Germantown, MD apparently only follows policy instead of realizing common sense. I bought a console (no game pre-loaded) from them about 3 weeks ago....saw everyone talking about this deal, so I went in with the 3DS I bought, the receipt, the target ad, the best buy newspaper ad, AND the printout of the best buy site showing it for $159.99. Even with all that, they still said they couldn't price match because the one in the newspaper didn't have the Mario Kart bundle...All I wanted was to trade the regular console for the one with the game loaded...no deal...so I told them, "You do realize what is about to happen, right? I am about to return this, then use the money to buy it from another store for cheaper." Their bureaucratic stupidity cost them $176.58 and no sale...not that they will go bankrupt from it, but it's just stupid. I went home, tried to get Amazon to price match but they don't carry it, so I settled for buying it from Best Buy. Dumbass Target idiots.

Targets "Holiday Price Match Policy" does not require you to bring in the printed ad and they price match some .com stores (best buy, walmart, TRU, and some others). they should have a ipod at the service desk that they use to check competitors ads and online price. read their holiday price match policy at the service desk to be fully informed as they do not know it and might deny you a PM that they should allow per their policy and you will have to point out where they are inaccurate. Some of my Slickdeals:
3 day vacation to Vegas for 4 including flight, lodging, 24 hour buffet, KA tickets, and car - $300 6 day vacation in Buenos Aires, Argentina for 2 including flight, loging, all expenses, and gifts - $1100 Dell XPS 420 + 4y warranty + $50GC, $1299 MSRP - #354.03 shipped +tax Anolon Titanium 12-Piece set, $399.99 SRP - $29.99 +tax Dyson DC17 vacuum - $99.99 +tax Macy's bath towels, $10 MSRP - $0.803 +tax each, in lots of 19. |

Damn...I didn't think to do that...too late now...I guess I shouldn't assume the employees knew the policy...even though I dealt with 4 different people, including the manager and customer service person. |

I think that the system drops the sale price of the item to adjust for the sale of the gift card when a gift card is bundled with an item, so PMing after the purchase would adjust the price from $189.99 to $169.99, not $209.99 to $169.99. Recap - PMing after purchase would have you pay $189.99 for the item and the gift card. PMing at point of purchase is the way to go. |

After picking up my order from bb this morning for $159.99 + nj tax and returning my order that I got last week to tru I was satisfied with the deal. After reading through this thread I figured what the hell and gave the pm a shot at target. I just went there 20 mins before closing with a printout from bb.com showing the price and that it was unavailable for shipping and in the 3 closest stores. The young lady in electronics went and got me the mk7 blue 3ds bundle and as we were walking to the register in electronics I mentioned the ad I had with me. She looks at it and proceeds to ring up the 3ds and immediately says this comes with a gift card, scans it and hands it to me. I act suprised and say oh nicee! She then dropped the price to $159.99 I paid and walked out chuckling!

So my wife has been enjoying her new 3DS XL for about an hour and a half. I was hesitant about Mario Kart 7 being digital and pre-installed (I like the option to trade/sell my games), but considering the other bundles cost the same, this bundle made the most sense. I did notice that when she registered it on club Nintendo, she didn't get any coins (160 is the reward I think). Anyone else run into issues getting the reward for registering a new system? This is only the second system she's registered on her account, the first being a DS Lite.

Worked like a charm
Went in with print out of Best Buy price. They took the DS to customer service. Customer service looked up the price using a iPad they have for Price Matching.Confirmed price and had zero problems giving me the price with the gift card. So... $199.95 PM to $159.99 WITH a $20 Target GC and I used my Red Card Debt card for another 5% off so total out of pocket was 161.00 (Tax is 6%). Total price after GC = 141.00. So basically 30 percent off normal retail. Not a bad deal at all. |
