ok so I got the LG Optimus Slider Prepaid Smartphone. I'm not real good at all of this but can work around a computer. Can anyone please tell me what's the most cost effective way to get this phone either switched to a new number or keep old cell number. The phone will be a primary cell used mostly with WiFi but not always. I tried to activate it online with the paylo plan and it didn't have that as an option just the other monthly plan. Can I just port it to google voice and when away from home use foxfi? I've also seen a lot about rooting (I have read most of the post), what does rooting do? And which if any should I do? Help? I flashed a slider over to Page Plus, it was a royal pain in the ass. Follow this video to get your SPC code, getting the drivers to work can be a bitch use cdmaDevTerm - Beta v.2 03/12¶ super beta the Alpha version did not work and I spend so many hours on it. (Connect, change to LG, and read) that’s it. But I had a hard time getting the right drivers installed because I have I think Android Drivers from about 7 different models of phones from Past Projects. More than likely you will have to force windows to install the right drivers

LG driver is linked in this tread and the fist few pages contains driver info. I had to turn my phone of to get the port to connect.

In short root it, download the drivers fight with the windows to install the correct drivers, once you have the drivers installed use CdmaDevTerm to get your SPC, after you figure witch port to select because now you have like four of them available, Call PP and get a MND and MIN and have them add your ESN to the network, add a PP PRL, honestly I don't even think that you have to do the manual programming in QPST you could just do the over the air program and it should populate most of those fields for you. To be safe I used the same guide for the V one in terms of profile settings and manually applied them. Reboot make a test call. I have not tested 3G because I am not sure I am ever going to use it as a phone but I have gone through my 2 dollar credit ($2 credit that they give you =20 mins)

I Bricked my slider that i brought over to Page Plus messing around where i should not have been. However, after a little Holly water...its alive...its alive

Anyway just a heads up I memtioned that the drivers were a challange. I found a better way to install the drivers 100% every time. I tired a XP (32 bit) machine same issue, I upgraded the XP machine to a fresh install of Win 7 32 bit, same issue could see the COM ports but they were allway busy when i tried to use QPST. Installed these drivers http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobi...Tool.shtml I choose the model number (I think 7011 check the about setting on your phone), it updated my existing driver, to my surprise all 4 devices assoicated with this phone started popping up...and installing their own drivers. I love it when a plan come together back in business. If the link is broken then you are looking for LGMobile supporst Tool. Make sure that after you launch it you say yes to check for a new verssion

can i use TING with this phone? or its only work for sprint phone? I am thinking of getting Groove IP + Ting + wifi??? anyone have any exp with that?

Can't imagine how many people bought this phone, just to pawn off on Ebay. I really liked this phone, I wish Virgin Mobile would bring it back.
