It would also be the right thing for Bestbuy to compensate him for the time he is going to waste trying to get it accomplished aswell. It would be a nice gesture but the right thing would been to have not sent the item in the first place as an incompetent company.
If someones cash register at the end of the day is over do you think the store is going to go through its surveillance to see who over paid for an item and contact them to give them the money back.

Imagine this had happend to you previously and you wasted 2hrs trying to contact that company and were unsuccessful in getting it done would you risk trying to do it a 2nd time.
i wouldnt waste 2 hours... i would give them maybe 30 minutes... i would probably just email them and say
you double shipped the product i ordered please make sure i wasnt charged twice, if you want me to return it please send me a return lable, if not i will donate it to my local library...

I just called them, hoping maybe they would give me a store credit or coupon or something for taking the time to return it ... no such luck. They said they could send me a prepaid shipping label but would take some 2 weeks to get here, or i could go return it to best buy myself. I told the lady the nearest best buy is 20 minutes away, she replied, I could send you a label but someone is probably waiting on their dvd. lol.
Seems like problem solved. Wait for the shipping label, mail it back.

So, I ordered the big bang theory season 2 on dvd on black friday - got it in the mail just fine. Then some days later, something else came from them in the mail that had my name/address on the outside, I opened it expecting another DVD i ordered - turns out it's the big bang theory season 2 on dvd again, and someone else's name/address on the receipt. What should I do?
if that thing happened to me, the last thing i would do is call the company. If they find out, from other's experience, it will just be a hassle trying to return it.
You'll get crazy newbies who call 3x a day for 2 weeks straight, and post argumentative paranoia demanding the rebate is guaranteed, in writing, by certified mail, on their doorsteps, by tomorrow evening. Then all the other newbie sheep freak out, and THEY call 3x a day, for 2 weeks straight, and the paranoia explodes. And suddenly everyone's carting their paper back to the retailer demanding a refund.
