----- Oh. And what I meant to add is that if it weren't for kids and needing to hang TVs in places that toddlers can't reach, I would have gotten a rear projection monster DLP TV a long time ago. I've got an LG 55" 120hz LCD. I've been wanting LED to get a better picture and deeper blacks. Think I could get $600 easily for my current TV? $100 for the upgrade would be justifiable to my wife...

Went by Wal-Mart this afternoon and they had the TV set up. Looks pretty nice.....still trying to figure out if I want to bite on it or not.

I just bought one for my parents. They've got an ancient, 36" Toshiba CRT and have been complaining that you can barely make out what's happening on TV shows and movies these days, since they're so dark. And it's true, on their astonishingly dim TV!
 There seems to be some debate on the Interwebs as to whether this thing actually does 'TrueMotion' (which, I think, is supposed to be frame interpolation to give 120 effective frames?) and whether or not it's an IPS panel. Several people have said LG uses IPS on all their big sets, but if so, it's a bit odd that it's not mentioned anywhere in the specs. No 3D, maybe no TrueMotion, and maybe not really 120Hz. In other words, perfect for the parents! |
