Just get this press, And do the correct measurements. Try your ratio x 3 and maybe, it'll yield, 1 to 2 cups for 4. Its, fun doing the testing phase. I use 9-10g of fresh ground per 6oz. Of h20.

and the ones on clearance at target were 1/4th this size

thanks in 4 1. The travelling size i got from the last deal saved me and my gf during superstorm sandy. Had no power, gas however worked so, we were able to make coffee with the travel french press by boiling water.
Sux they charge me with tax and had to open a new acct as i was unable to reset my PW.

Denied my first card also. Tried a different browser but same problem. Called and found out their bank is in Denmark so your cards must all be set to deny payments to foreign countries. My bank mastercard didn't work but my capital one visa did.

I was considering getting the smaller version of this for a while, but this is great since I can enough for several people

for reference we have a 17oz. "4 cup" bodum french press, my wife uses it daily. It's enough for 1 large 'cup' for 1 person, or 2 smaller cups. My wife has gotten used to the 17oz size so if I try to split it on the weekends with her she whines- the 34oz size would probably be great for the weekend for 2 people with large cups. The 51oz size is getting really big- at some point if we have lots of guests I just break out the large drip coffee maker.

Also, at least my experience has been that these don't work really well at making much less than their stated size- you get a fair amount of wasted liquid and coffee with small coffee grains within. I wouldn't want to use a 51oz. maker to make 20 ounces for instance...

Can I drink straight out of this? I drink a gallon of green tea a day. Haha
