I'm not a sub expert, but from what I've read/heard, this sub is very similar to the PL-200, which is very popular on both SD and in AVS Forums and goes on sale for $260-290. This has the same amp and I believe same dimensions.

I've had the PSW505, F-12, and now the VK-12. the VK-12 blows the previous 2 out of the water. Bash amp and 1000 watts that you can feel. Kevlar woofer.

My bet is that this sub would easily outperform anything even close to $200 and many that are much more expensive. BASH amps are very good and this one has the power to really shine in a medium sized room. A friend of mine has the Bic V1220 in a budget bedroom system and a SVS PC-12NSD in their home theater and we were both surprised at just how good the V1220 was for so little money.

24hz anechoic performance isn't "ideal" for home theater but it shouldn't disappoint. In other words, it won't hit the lowest lows in pipe organ music or the really low lows in many movie sound tracks.

I am a big fan of Polk speakers, both home and auto. BUT, this does not include their subs. As others have said, this is a pretty good deal in this price range.

The mirror black finish on the top plate seems robust and is still shiny after a few months. This sub performs better than the starter subs from the big brands, all of which cost more than $200. It truly is much better then VK-12. If you really want a long-term audio system, go to AudiogoN forums and read reviews on HSU subs. Don't buy these low-end $200 subs. A good system will last you many many years. I plan to upgrade my sub in a few years.
