BACK AGAIN! And the status for my order is "Released to Manufacturing". It seems that you will not be cancelled...

Lowest price, even lower than the price of Black Friday and with an extra "Integrated Mobile Broadband (Sierra Wireless MC8355 - Gobi 3000"

Link: http://lite.corporateperks.com/holidayfair (Need registration), and choose Lenovo. It will lead you to "Lenovo Corporate Perks Exclusive Offer", and also give you 3% reward.

To register, you can try your work email or something I found in the internet: http://alamoinsurance.net/alamo-p...ate-perks/

*If you don’t have a company email address click “Have a Company Code?” and register with your personal email address,

Company Name: Alamoinsurance.net and company code (case sensitive): alamoperks

------------------------------------------------
Now the x230 does not show price, so that is the tricky.

choose shop all x230, and the third one without price, customize and buy:

1. in display model: choose the 3rd option: 12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna (You will get ips panel and webcam)

2. in camera, make sure the 720p cam is checked.

3. in integrated WiFi Wireless LAN Adapters, choose Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN

The price will change from NA to 561.66... You can upgrade something else but make sure the price for i5 is above 550 or i7 above 750 so that you can check out.

That's it!

Be quick and quiet... Sometimes it is cancelled, sometimes not.

You can upgrade anything to make the price above 550!

=============

Also it is rumored that you should not choose win8 and win8 is not compatible with GOBI3000, and they have to cancel the order.

Thanks and got it today at 1:30PM. The package is really simple even without a manual.

This is the best one that I ever purchased. The build quality is far better than others. It is time to forget about Apple (I hate it), Sony, HP etc.

Just backup everything and now upgrading.

I'm on the fence on this purchase. Doesn't Lenovo charge restocking fee even if you refuse shipment? I seem to recall someone saying that.

I never denied a package from Lenovo. But I denied packages from other retailers like Amazon.com and get my money when they received the package. There is a common understanding that if you did not receive the package, they should not charge you anything.

Lenovo was not charging restocking during the holiday period. Not sure when that ends. However, they say on their site they WILL charge restocking if you refuse the package. Not sure if they can get away with that, but they really don't want them shipping back to China probably!

Here is the windows experience index. Core i7 does not make a big difference.
i7, 4gb mem and 128gb ssd.
processor 7.2
memory 5.9
graphics 5.0
gaming 6.4
hard disk 7.9

total 5.0

Those guys shared their performances regarding X230. Please note that this laptop can tak DDR3 1866.

Update: I happened to have two 4G DDR3 1333 (one patriot and one G Skill) to form dual channel. The numbers changed.
i7, 4gb mem and 128gb ssd.
processor 7.2
memory 7.5
graphics 6.5
gaming 6.5
hard disk 7.9

total 6.5

However, the boot up time seems to be 2 - 3 sec slower than the stock DDR3 1600. So I really did not experience any noticeable difference from large memory and dual channel.

Picked mine up from UPS since I missed their earlier delivery. It's a bit heavier than I thought, then again it has the 9 cell battery. It looks awesome, love the keyboard and screen IPS is great. Plan on putting in 240GB SSD and later 16GB ram and it should fly.

Yes, I like it so much. In the past 10 years, I own many laptops (Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Lenovo S10), HP touchpads and over 5 desktops. This one is the best laptop, whose performances can be comparable to a desktop. I don't like the low voltage processors in the ultrabooks.

I did not order a 9-cell battery because I had a Dell 700m (bought for $500 in 2004) with a 9-cell battery. I never got a chance to show the long battery life, but the weight always bothered me. And also, the big battery made it so ugly.

We cannot expect a laptop to last forever. Even the latest technology won't last more than a couple of years. But I just want something to show a little bit business style with solid build. We got this low price just because Lenovo purchased IBM computer business and it is a laptop over $3000.

I'm happy with mine. The keyboard doesn't seem quite as nice to type on as the older models, but still quite nice as laptops go. The IPS screen is great. Higher resolution would be even better, but at this size the resolution isn't bad.

I upped the memory and added a Samsung 830 drive, and all it's a speedy little machine now. Not as sleek or pretty as an ultrabook, but more function for less.

Just bought and installed 8G DDR3 1866 ($40) from Frys. Taking from the deal
http://slickdeals.net/f/5734976-8GB-2x-4-Patriot-SO-DIMM-DDR3-1866-204-pin-laptop-RAM-40-sh-Frys?v=1

CPU-Z showed running at 1866 MHz. The boot up time (press the power button until see the desktop) is 15 - 16 sec (2 - 3 sec faster than the stock Hynix DDR3 1600). System is Win7 ultimate sp1 and Office 2010 professional plus. When the 16G DDR3 1866 rams fall into an acceptable price, I will upgrade again.

The WEI index for memory increases to 7.7 (7.2, 7.7, 6.6, 6.6, 7.9)

This laptop seems to be more powerful than any of my desktops.
Test method: Enlarge a picture to 200% resolution in Photozoom
1. Core 2 Duo 7200 (overclock to 3.2GHz) took 4.5 - 5 minutes. (2G DDR2 800, SSD sata 2)
2. AMD phenom II X830 (overclock to 3.5GHz) took 3 - 3.5 minutes. (4G DDR3 1333, SSD sata 2)
3. X230 with core i7 took 2.5 minutes. (8G DDR3 1866, SSD sata 3)

This is really really amazing. This little thing is really working like a horse. It is as powerful as a desktop (or maybe it is time for me to upgrade my desktop). The only concern is the CPU temperature: showed 40 - 47 oC at idle or slight load and 63 oC during photo processing. And considering this is winter time.....

Update: Cinebench R10 test score, Core i7 3520M
Single CPU: 6140
Multiple CPU: 12691

Reference: Core i5 3360M
Single CPU: 5877
Multiple CPU: 12062

My desktop: AMD Phenom II X3 B73/X4 973
Single CPU: 2289
Multiple CPU: 8025

I am not happy as they removed the "break", "back/forward" key...
