BACK AGAIN! And the status for my order is "Released to Manufacturing". It seems that you will not be cancelled...

Lowest price, even lower than the price of Black Friday and with an extra "Integrated Mobile Broadband (Sierra Wireless MC8355 - Gobi 3000"

Link: http://lite.corporateperks.com/holidayfair (Need registration), and choose Lenovo. It will lead you to "Lenovo Corporate Perks Exclusive Offer", and also give you 3% reward.

To register, you can try your work email or something I found in the internet: http://alamoinsurance.net/alamo-p...ate-perks/

*If you don’t have a company email address click “Have a Company Code?” and register with your personal email address,

Company Name: Alamoinsurance.net and company code (case sensitive): alamoperks

------------------------------------------------
Now the x230 does not show price, so that is the tricky.

choose shop all x230, and the third one without price, customize and buy:

1. in display model: choose the 3rd option: 12.5" Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit Display, Mobile Broadband Ready, 2x2 Antenna (You will get ips panel and webcam)

2. in camera, make sure the 720p cam is checked.

3. in integrated WiFi Wireless LAN Adapters, choose Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN

The price will change from NA to 561.66... You can upgrade something else but make sure the price for i5 is above 550 or i7 above 750 so that you can check out.

That's it!

Be quick and quiet... Sometimes it is cancelled, sometimes not.

You can upgrade anything to make the price above 550!

=============

Also it is rumored that you should not choose win8 and win8 is not compatible with GOBI3000, and they have to cancel the order.

Yeah I just got it last month. Kept getting blue screen errors, doesn't wake from sleep, and windows updates keep failing resulting in an endless reboot loop. The optical drive door keeps popping open as well. It could be a hardware problem and not willing to chance not getting my $ back for it in case that's what it is

funny this happened to me on a toshiba that i got once as a floor model at staples, same exact thing, they claimed that they replaced the hard drive

Looks like not the IPS screen? From the first page of the thread, it looks like it's customizable though, but I'm not going to register to find out. Hoping for something decent from Lenovo next year with Haswell and higher resolution, as my X220t holds up well enough.

I just got the BF price from Lenovo. I have no use for the mobile broadband card. Should I just leave well enough alone?

It was extremely difficult to get someone to talk to @ lenovo but I loved the specs and the feel of the thinkpad. If you buy something like that from Staples again be sure to call the manufacturer about the warranty. I had an HP Dm4 that was a floor model that I was having problems w/. I called HP and they said the warranty would be up in Feb 2013 (bought in October). Staples told me I had a year...

Darn, I was hoping this had an optical drive @ this price point..

Got it and it is definitely a better deal than the Black Friday one.

With the black friday deal, I did not get the webcam included.

A tip:

Choose the $599 x230 configuration with Windows 7 home premium
Do not get the Windows 8 version not only b/c it sucks, but b/c you do not get the integrated mobile internet 3g card, which on ebay goes for $100 (ok maybe a bit less).
Absolutely must get the premium screen; it's an IPS screen which makes its quality equal to the retina macbook pro in terms of pure quality, but not in terms of resolution. I have had an X220 and this screen is wonderful, and it's matte, which is a dying breed.
Get the 500 gb hd upgrade since it's so cheap
Don't buy anything else that they will try to upsell you.

I used Discover so I'm guessing I get 5% back.
You get the 3% bonus points with the site, whatever that means. I hope that I can remember to use them to get what I imagine is a free pair of socks or something
If you did all that, the total is about $703 including expedited shipping.

Go find a 2.5" SATA solid state drive to put into this (in addition to keeping the 500gb 7200 rpm mechanical hard drive), and you'll get great storage and blazing speed. If you use the solid state drive, you will not be able to use the mobile 3g card though (which few people would use anyway)

All X220 and x230 are WWAN ready with antennas already installed, you simply buy a WWAN card on ebay and insert it into the empty slot. The case is very easy to open, see these for details:

I am beginning to question Lenovo's QC as of late. My recent x230 is in the shop right now...It's not turning on and would not charge. Both the old x60 and T61 still kicking. Also run into other issues with family members' Z580 and G780.

can you not buy it much cheaper and do yourself. It doesn't seem worth it to me unless adding more memory is a pain with this laptop

Thanks. I don't know if adding the memory would be a pain or not? True, memory is pretty inexpensive though.
