huh? even with data caps, faster is always better than slower - your statement is stupid. i don't use much data but the few times i do i would rather have googlemaps update in 1 second than 5 seconds, and i'd rather the occasional web page download in 5 seconds rather than 10 seconds.

This would be a CRAZY deal if it were a plasma or LCD. I can't imagine what it's like to watch porn on an 82" TV.

weight? My 73" DLP weighs 93 lbs. Guess how much a 73" plasma/LCD would weigh? People like to talk about the thinness of screens yet they put the thin TV on a stand thats deeper than most DLPs. My 73" DLP is 19" deep, thats just as deep or even less than most TV stands. The main advantage of thin screens is to hang it on the wall, which most people screw up and hang them way too high in the first place.

I've got a WD65C10 now which I am happy with but would like to get a 73" as they liquidate them. 82" is too big for me and there would be the problem of selling my 65".

Well that is a far cry from what I was told by Amazon on the 73" tv I tried to get them to price match! I was told 'NO" by no less than THREE different people due to the fact that it is an "instore only deal". My tv was also on its way to me and then I had to call to refuse delivery as amazon wanted to charge me return shipping! Below are my comments I filled out for amazon after this debacle! Prime member for about 6 years in a row as well!

Hi, I requested a price match on this Tv and was told that it was not eligible even though it is through Frys.com because delivery (FREE) had to be arranged in store. If that is the case, I need to return this tv as it is obviously a lot cheaper at my local store at $799 versus your price of literally hundreds more..
To say I am disappointed is an understatement. This was to be a x-mas gift for my wife and I had it all set up to be delivered when she was not home and now I need to make arrangement to get it from Fry's.

Damn, I just got this from paulstv.com the day after Black Friday for $1,600. I had kept an eye on it for nearly a month and that was about the best price I'd found. I'm hoping paulstv will honor their 30 day price match even though theirs came with $250 worth of crappy gift cards.
Either way though, this is a beautiful TV. Awesome picture and lots of nice little features that my old TV from 2005 was lacking.

Yeah, and I guess you can argue that, just like having a 1080p resolution on a 5 inch screen as opposed to 720p, bigger is better right we need 2560 x 1440 cell phone screens right now

To bad you nor anyone else will be buying an 80+ inch plasma/led/lcd for this price anytime soon. So while we enjoy or nice big screen you can wait maybe a decade until prices become more reasonable

According to all the people who cry how 720p is insufficient on a 50" tv, an 80+ inch tv at 1080p is not ideal unless you sit far away....and that defeats the purpose.

A friend of mine just switched from his 73" Dinosaur Mitsubishi DLP (RIP) to a 70" LCD about a month ago. He couldn't be happier.

He got it for $1500.
Next year the 70"inchers will probably be under $1k.
80" to follow the year after.

Love my 73" Mitsubishi DLP that I purchased last Black Friday.......this deal is very tempting.
