Yes, thats the point I was sarcastically trying to make in response to all the "better get yer spare parts!" posts from the usual DLP trolls.
oh lol, internet sarcasm is hard to detect, to many idiots online

I don't understand why all the DLP haters, which don't own a DLP, find the need to thread crap everytime a DLP deal comes up. I bought my 73C9 a couple years ago. The picture is outstanding and looks a lot better then any LCD I've seen in color balance and overall "realism". It's 3D, has great viewing angles, and a replacement bulb will cost me $40 when I need one and after 2+ years I still don't need one. I'd buy this 82" in a second if I had the cash and move the 73 I have into the basement.

Great TV's for the price....the only people that seem to complain are those that paid twice as much for a smaller LCD...

I can see the problem. This thread is thick with idiocy. Always the same idiots too. I suppose I can understand the frustration of having spent $3000 on a tv to find that its inferior to a $900 one, and I can understand the agony of customers walking into your tv store and wanting to buy the really nice, really big, really cheap dlp sets. Must kill the sales people and those who chose their expensive electronics poorly.

But you'd think they'd find something else to do with their time after a year or two or three. Yes, some of these numbnuts have been doing this for at least 3 years, like clockwork.

Not a well examined life...

I just got off the phone with an amazon rep as you can see above and was told that they will price match it because it is fulfilled by Amazon.
Well you are either a liar or got a bad rep. Amazon will NOT match this price..

I know the pain you are feeling.....just remember, others have felt the pain of obsolete technology too:

Glad to see that you are looking at the positive aspect of extinction.

The used market should see some cheap prices too.

Damn, I just got this from paulstv.com the day after Black Friday for $1,600. I had kept an eye on it for nearly a month and that was about the best price I'd found. I'm hoping paulstv will honor their 30 day price match even though theirs came with $250 worth of crappy gift cards.
Either way though, this is a beautiful TV. Awesome picture and lots of nice little features that my old TV from 2005 was lacking.
You may be in luck, Paul's has a 30 day price guarantee http://www.paulstv.com/policies.a...Protection

Yea, I saw that before I purchased. The wording about "bundled items" in their terms makes me nervous though since it came with the $250 gift card package, so I have a feeling they're going to say they can't honor it because theirs came with extras. I already submitted a requst for a price match late Tuesday night when I first saw this listed and haven't heard a word from them yet either.

Wrong. See link above.
It's always nice when people assume they know what the link they say to read says... Mitsubishi is leaving the DLP RPTV game, DLP projectors aren't suddenly disappearing from earth.

A special kiss goes out to my good friends:

sklar & cconklin1

Load up on those spare parts for your Dinosaur Like Projectors!!!

R.I.P.
A life, get one. DLP RPTVs aren't perfect, but size vs performance vs price I don't think anything will touch them before they disappear for good, thankfully LCD is getting close enough that we won't be totally left out in the cold.

So I just heard back from paulstv.com and was denied the price match because this one is in-store pickup only. I guess I can kind of see their point, but it would have been nice to save $300. Maybe I'll somehow get lucky and Fry's will have another sale with free shipping before the end of the year.

Is 1080p really enough for an 82" size TV?

I mean....people around here whine and cry about 720p on a 50".

Dinosaur Like Projector.................... get 'em before they become extinct!

They are........extinct......this is it for Mits and DLP. I wrote off DLP yrs ago, sold electronics in the 90's, I remember the big screen projections, in 06 picked up a plasma, last few have been LCD's n LED's. Saw a similar deal from Frys 2 weeks ago....$800 for the 73. It got me looking. DLP NOW is not the same DLP/rear projection from yrs ago. I got mine delivered today 83 incher. Has the best picture I have ever seen out of the box. I am looking for calibration settings as I dont want to mess with Avia right now. But I am not sure how they could be much better. Absolutely the best realistic/natural picture I have seen. But this run that is out now is the last of Mits DLP's, they are done with em. And from my limited research they were the last one making them. No profit margin for the stores? LED's the same size are twice as much and no way in hell the pic is as good as this. OH NO IT WONT HANG ON THE WALL....ok whatever.....I have not mounted a lcd/led yet so....WHATEVER LOL

If anyone finds this price again, please let me know.
I want this particular model, and this is the perfect price for me.
Thanks!

DLP is the only realistically priced screen for large 70"+ screens. These screens are meant for big rooms where you will be viewing the screen from a large distance. 82" is perfect for setups such as a home theater in the basement. You shouldn't be buying this size unless you are the very least 10 feet away. These things are awesome.
