iMito MX1 and MX2 Owner's Thread

So many people have purchased the MX1 and MX2 android stick devices and I was planning on starting a thread with helping people with their new devices. Also I plan on showing you guys cool things I find and you guys can post things in the wiki for things you found as well. I will try to update this, but I'm hoping it will be run by a community like the HP Touchpad thread.

I currently own an iMito MX2
- Using K400 Logitech Mouse/Keyboard
- Wireless N With WPA/WPA2 (Works flawlessly, no connection issues so far)
- 1080p60

I'm currently still looking for a way to easily navigate it as like an htpc, maybe there's an app or firmware out there that is meant for this.

Q: How do I set the device resolution?
You have to click on the top thing on the right, go to settings, and scroll to screen. On the right it will show you HDMI OUTPUT, there select your output resolution.

I just got my MX2 in the mail. So far I'm really impressed with this little toy. It's fast and responsive and requires very little config to get it up and running. The only thing I can't figure out is how to play youtube videos in full screen. I tried using the youtube app and chrome browser but no luck. Does anyone know how to do this?

The youtube full screen feature was "broken" due to recent updates as it took out the full screen option as it thinks that your device is in portrait mode, thus not needing the full screen button, that is what I'm getting from the reviews.

A quick solution and fix would probably to download an old youtube apk. I haven't tested this yet, but people have posted old apk's from youtube before.

Youtube apk pre-update

Hey guys, I have been very seriously looking at this but there is very little information on them. Can you guys provide me with some insight on how you are liking the imito MX1/MX2? Any issues with them? I've heard from some people that the wifi strength isn't the best. Can you use a USB wifi dongle?

I'm hopefully getting mine for Christmas, the only other thing I'll need to figure out is what the best way is of controlling the thing. I'd like to stay away from a full keyboard setup if I could. I've looked at the Lenovo N5901, if you guys have any recommendations on that let me know! Thanks in advance

Great idea for a thread. I have been interested in these but have not bitten yet. Curious to know what all they can do and if its worth picking one up.

My next mission is to get hulu and comedy central TV shows to play (in a browser?). Are they using flash? It looks like flash 11.1 is already installed on the MX2, should i uninstall and try the one from the link provided in the original post?

Both work great! i like MX2 a little better because I can visibly see the speed increase by 15-20%. I use usb LAN dongle http://www.amazon.com/BobjGear-Et...s=bobjgear and Logitech K400. Been nothing but positive experience thus far.

Based on other android devices that could be a challenge.

I know hulu uses flash and they check user agent and flash version. So you will need to change the agent string (not hard)and install a hacked version of flash. Since they stopped making flash for android i am not sure if the 2nd part is possible anymore.

I do it on my google tv but its since its x86 based verses ARM I am able to use the generic Linux version.

Anybody having wifi issues? The signal reception isn't that great (my Galaxy Nexus has better signal strength) and it drops out sometimes, requiring a toggle of the wifi.

Also, I was able to play videos off the daily show website using flash in Firefox, but I couldn't put it into full screen. I tried 1080p flash, but it was a bit laggy.

On the plus side, video playback has been good (I use MX Player; the only downside is that it doesn't hide the nav bar. Default video player does hide the nav bar but doesn't support some formats). Web browsing is also pretty good. I just wish the wifi was more stable!

If you want to improve the wifi and money isn't an issue, use wired LAN hooking up with a wireless extender.

Also if you want to hide the NAV bar, download this updated OS version. It acts like a hide taskbar of window OS.

I was just planning on using it for a simple computer for my little sister, however now that I'm looking at it, it can be used as an htpc. I will look more into 1080p decoding and 5.1 surround output on this device and see how that works.

You just plug the device straight into the tv, and you plug it into the wall using the given usb to wall adapter.

You can't use a wifi dongle (have to install drivers), but you can use an ethernet to usb adapter I believe (or plug and play wireless adapter), but I don't think it's necessary. My device is two floors below my router and it's working fine so far. It really depends on where you plan on using the device I guess. (I guess I'll try to test the range on this thing as well).

No issues as of yet. I'm just waiting for a better interface or something. I may just look up into rooting the device and looking for custom launchers so it looks nice on bigger screens. (Ex. Smaller icons, smaller notification bar)

For your keyboard, if you aren't set on the lenovo, I would get the K400 from logitech. They go for 20-25 bucks and it has an easy to use touchpad and it is lightweight too.
