Spending a few days in Everglades area...

What's good to do? Spending a few days in the general area killing time between two other travel destinations.

Was thinking of getting a cheap tent and camping at Flamingo or the other campground there. If not there's a hostel just north of the park - I don't know about the area it's in, looks like an industrial block. Suggestions on that?

I've got a Nikon camera with a 500mm lens to play with, and not much holding me back from anything.
