So for a laptop the My Passport would be the better choice?
That's my personal preference. I prefer the smaller size and lack of a power brick on the portables. The only major draw back with these newer WD passports (1TB & 2TB), is the fact that the USB adapter is now soldered to the main board of the hard drive, meaning that if anything ever happens to the USB interface, you're pretty much screwed. On the older and smaller passports, you could just open the enclosure, remove the USB adapter and plug in the bare drive to any sata port and retrieve your data.

So does this contain the old 3TB Western Digital Caviar green drives?
"A global super-rich elite has exploited gaps in cross-border tax rules to hide an extraordinary (minimum) $21 trillion of wealth offshore – as much as the American and Japanese GDPs put together – according to research commissioned by the campaign group Tax Justice Network. At least $21 trillion – perhaps up to $32 trillion.
Not related to the deal in particular but I thought I should share this info. I just had an Elements external line drive that died recently (past 1 year warranty) so I ended up taking the bare drive out of the enclosure and set on a HDD dock (turns out it was just the enclosure that faulted). I checked the serial of this drive on the WD website to find that this bare drive has a warranty until 2014. I think I bought it from amazon and it's a 1.5TB EADS (green) drive.
