I have this laptop but the Windows 7 version. Yes the fan is always on full blast even when cold. I don't know why Sony still hasn't fixed this with all of the complaints. Other than this, it's great

-The fan is indeed kind of annoying, if you do anything other than light web browsing, it will turn on. Watching a youtube video usually turns it on. I like the laptop though.
-It has very good build quality and is sleek and shiny. -The screen is not the best, just above average. -The track pad is good, but I find it hard to right click at times. -And lastly, the hybrid drive is awesome! Almost as fast as an ssd in bootime, returns from sleep in a few seconds, but has a high capacity. -If you are looking for an ultrabook, this is the deal for you! Stop that!

The 15r is ok, it's just bulky and somewhat unattractive. Also the trackpad drives me nuts. It's huge and SO sensitive that one slight brush with you sleeve or palm can trigger it. Time to get a cordless keyboard/mouse. |

even china crap asus or acer could be better than todays sony. (asus actually is better than sony for the most part) Last edited by yarnim; 12-12-2012 at 02:17 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost do you eat poop?

I've had great luck with my Asus laptops (I have a G53SX-NH71 and a S400CA ultrabook w/ touch screen), both are built like a tank. I paid $699 for the S400CA ultrabook, i5, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB hybrid drive, which I think is a far better deal than this, especially considering it doesn't have a touch screen.

Good example is HP's Envy line (Envy 15 before it was discontinued) or its business line. Pay more and you get great build quality, an IPS panel, and better support. With the business line, you can get the Dreamcolor display. HP doesn't get a lot of positive rep here mainly because the haters have bought $300 notebooks all their lives. |

You can also blame it on the uninformed consumer who doesn't bother to properly research what he buys. |
