They are ugly but should be mounted on a wall somewhere within reach of the stove.
Thanks OP nice find!
about 5 feet from stove, assuming that's primary reason for fire. Most extinguishers want them to be sprayed from 5 feet or so. And when I am at it, a good strategy is to not use your cooking oils, sugar etc in the cabinets that are closer to stove. some tips a FD chief told me after an incident . Basically, think of what could catch fire and/or let it grow fast. keep those things far from stove.
They aren't illegal, Halon just isn't manufactured anymore due to the harmful effects on Ozone layer. Put it in your car for an emergency. They work great on engine fires. Spray through grill, fire will draw in with air and snuff it. These are pretty scarce these days. You can probably sell on CL for more than a larger unit will cost you.
Airplane owners love them because they are small and are perfect for putting out electrical fires.
Thanks for the tip, this unit is pretty small, maybe 10 inches high, easy to store anywhere. I will probably keep it.
