I'll be watching this closely since Verizon is backing it and will want to make this profitable. I'm about to sign up for Amazon Prime for the streaming and occasional orders.
I support the company that most manufacturers wait to copy.
I prefer true innovation and foresight. Alabama Crimson Tide! |

Thanks.
I am curious to see how this works, but it is definitely TBD. There is no way they have streaming rights to most of the recent titles they have in their kiosks. This is a partnership with Verizon and the email says “Look for another email soon inviting you to try it out for one month free with subscription”. In my experience Verizon has never been involved in anything inexpensive. I really like Netflix and we use the streaming a ton. They don’t seem to mind that the whole family (including kids at college) share one account. As someone else stated, the competition can’t hurt |

I love Netflix but we ain't married so if Redbox can deliver I'll be there. However, it's taken NF a while to build the content relationships they have and to create really good apps for various platforms and there is a lot to be said for a good user experience (Hulu Plus
). Only time will tell... Last edited by jeremythecamel; 12-12-2012 at 10:17 AM.. |

E.G. I want to watch a movie tonight. I could stream it immediately or I can drive down to the nearest kiosk and wait in line for the same movie behind a kid browsing everything Redbox has in stock. I think I'll take the drive because with Redbox streaming, that kid would have to be an idiot to use the kiosk... I'll bet there is no line! Moral of the story: the offerings will NOT be the same for online and kiosk, at least not until they corner the streaming market and decide to get rid of the kiosks, in which case my original statement presides. |

"Redbox Instant by Verizon will be offered via the web, as well as through home entertainment, tablet and mobile devices, including iOS®, Android™, Samsung® Blu-ray Players and TVs with SmartHub™, LG Smart TV and Blu-ray Players, and Google TV. More devices will be announced in the coming months."[/QUOTE]
...And a WD TV channel too! |
