4MyRebate

Hey guys, just wanted to know how long does it take after you mailed in the required documents for 4MyRebate to update the status of your rebate from the "Rebate Tracking" Page. I sent in my rebate 2 and a half weeks ago and it still hasn't shown anything other than "Claim Completed, Awaiting Receipt of Documentation". The last time, which was in September, I submitted a rebate to 4MyRebate I ended up never getting the rebate and I called in and after 30 minutes of being on hold a rude representative said it "got lost in the mail" and they couldn't do anything about it. If this one also gets "lost in the mail" also, then I'm convinced these guys are total scam artists and will never buy anything involving 4MyRebate ever again.

Could you guys provide me with some feedback as to what the process is, submitting documentation, how long does it take for the website to update the status of your rebate, etc...

I sent in my rebate last week, and I got an email yesterday saying they received it. I looked online and they had scans of all the materials I sent in. The UPC showed up as a big black box on the form because it was black bars printed on brown cardboard. Tonight I got another email saying my claim was denied ($100) because the original UPC was missing.

They are a scam. You can see my UPC on the scans they have (shows up as a black blob).
I wouldn't count on getting your rebate.

Thanks for the info. I didn't even get to the stage you got to in two attempts, so yeah I'm going to avoid 4MyRebate altogether. The 30 minute hold while trying to call them just to reach the rude representative is the kicker. Screw them.

I'm still working on it. I emailed them and got a generic response (like they didn't even read my email) saying to resubmit all forms with the UPC from the box.

I called this morning and after about 10 minutes I spoke to a lady named Theresa. She looked up my documents and said the same thing -- that she didn't see the original UPC.

Apparently, after they receive your stuff in the mail, they make very low quality copies/scans of what you sent in. She did not have access to the paper form I mailed in that had the UPC attached to it. On the black and white scan that they made, my UPC shows up as a big, dark, black box. You can't read the bar-code on it because the exposure is so dark. (and the UPC was printed on a brown cardboard box from a big tv)

I explained to her that my UPC was included but is not readable on their scans because of whatever device they used to scan it. I told her I had a copy I made of the bar-code before I sent it in. She asked me to fax it to her -- so now I am waiting on that.

I can't believe that I have to go through all of this just because the scanner they used is from like 1981 and can't pick up a good image. What about all the other UPC's that were cut from brown packages?!

I haven't had an issue, they showed a very clear scan of my paperwork and my rebate just was shipped, guess it's just luck of the draw.

You must have gotten lucky. Here is a picture of the scan they have of my rebate. The UPC on the bottom left is unreadable on their scan.

Here is a photocopy of the UPC I made before mailing it in. You can tell its the same thing I put on the form, yet they keep telling me that I did not include it.

Whatever they used to scan mine definitely did not create "a very clear scan" in my opinion.

I just got my $40 amex gift card from them for a 2x SSD purchase, no problems. Followed the rebate, attached scanned copy of UPC.

Probably because I always send my rebates in via USPS Certified Mail if over a certain amount, so they don't try to mess with me.

That's smart. Should have done that. I resent my stuff with a copy of the UPC again a few days ago. if this also gets lost in the email then that's 3 for 3 LOL.

I just received two denial emails because, they say, my submission did not include an invoice. I included the order confirmation email that I received from TigerDirect. I never received an invoice. Has anyone else encountered/resolved this problem?

Go to the Tigerdirect website and login. Find your order history and print your invoice from there. You will know when you find the right form, it says invoice right on it at the top.

had to call like 5 times to finally get an email address where I could send my own scans. finally approved though.

I've never had any problems with 4MyRebate after nearly 30 rebates. It typically takes 1-2 weeks to show up as received, 2 days to be approved, and up to 1.5 weeks for the card to be mailed.

Their scans are of decent quality but they are black and white, so anything on a dark background probably won't show up like in the OP's case. For the rare UPC not on a white background I definitely recommend making your own B&W (not grayscale) scan to see what it will look like.

I agree. From my experience, of all of the big rebate clearing houses, 4MyRebate ranks among the best. Never had a problem and every single article from the submission, down to the envelope, is scanned into their system. Based on the user's photocopy, it's pretty easy to see that the off-color UPC (why would anyone ever use something like this??) is screwing up the scan. I'd imagine that the guy who scans the submissions is different than the guy who verifies the information, leading to the problem above.
