I think I want a circulating fan though... anyone compare something like this to one with a (not jet-engine powerful but preferably quiet) fan?

I have passive radiator-type heaters, as well as ones that use fans. My favorite of all is the Lasko 6221, which has a digital thermostat and throws out heat very well. The thing about convection heaters w/o fans is that they do the job heating up an area, but seem to take longer doing it, as they are not blasting the hot air at you while you sit at your computer desk. Still, if you put a passive heater under your computer desk, your feet will still get warm and toasty.

Not saying it is the same thing, but looks an awful lot like this Space Heater from Sunbeam that gets great reviews:

By the way, Bionaire is a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation, which is owned by Sunbeam. Just sayin...
