The lens you mention is a manual focus lens, the one posted here is a motorized AF lens. If you don't understand, please do some research on AF-S, AF, AF-D, AF-M, etc... |

Would this be far better at macros than the stock lens (18-55mm) that comes with a Nikon D3100? Pondering this as a gift for a newbie casual photographer.

Not that 1:2 (which this is) is bad--I owned a Canon 50mm 2.5 1:2 macro, which was decent--but this will only wet your beak. Click below to fight cancer! |
