It's simple. Guns haven't ever been banned. Certain guns have been but so what. The OP's statement is false. RPGs have long been banned but claiming that because RPGs have been banned that it's a clear indication that "Option 1 didn't work". Nevermind the fact that what may be banned now wasn't necessarily banned before and the hardware is still out there to be used however it's owner deems.

There is evidence out there that does suggest that a tighter control on guns or banning them does in fact reduce crime overall. Whether someone cares to believe that, or that the ban/controls themselves are to thank for that or not is their right but to claim that we've tried banning guns and that hasn't helped curb the problem whatsoever is downright false. That's the point I was making.

I too side with trance. Pandora's box was opened and there isn't any real way to close it.

RPGs are pretty legal to purchase.

There is evidence to suggest that gun restrictions have little impact on gun violence, as well.

Who said anything about comparing "culture"? I am saying that the gun ban fails in MEXICO because of their corrupt law enforcement.

In other countries, where law enforcement is not as corrupt, a gun ban might work.

The United States has the highest rate of gun related injuries among developed countries.

Oh, so certain metrics that differ only matter if you bring them up? Comparing Mexico to the US isn't valid because of Mexico's corrupt law enforcement, but comparing the US to Japan is kosher regardless of prevailing cultures.

There are states that ban all guns? Even if there are the massive failure in that idea is that we thankfully don't have checkpoints on roads between states (for the most part). Hell, in the North East you could walk from your home to the next state, pick up a gun and be back at home in time for dinner practically.

Thus, the high gun violence there doesn't not mean that the gun ban would never work there...it means the cops are not enforcing the ban if paid off. Have you never read up on this issue about Mexican law enforcement corruption?
