There is evidence out there that does suggest that a tighter control on guns or banning them does in fact reduce crime overall. Whether someone cares to believe that, or that the ban/controls themselves are to thank for that or not is their right but to claim that we've tried banning guns and that hasn't helped curb the problem whatsoever is downright false. That's the point I was making. I too side with trance. Pandora's box was opened and there isn't any real way to close it. |

![]() There is evidence to suggest that gun restrictions have little impact on gun violence, as well. Last edited by PaintTheSkyGrey; 12-14-2012 at 02:04 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost GeorgiaCarry [georgiacarry.org] Member

I've actually to ask. What civilian really needs an RPG? I mean, who is going to go hunting with that Thank goodness Dick Cheney didn't have one on him...http://www.autoweapons Fair enough, there is evidence supporting both sides. Point still stands though, guns weren't ever banned so claiming that they were and that it had little to no effect is just false. Last edited by LivninSC; 12-14-2012 at 02:09 PM.. |

Mexico has already been addressed...gun bans don't work there because law enforcement accepts bribes to look the other way. Thus, the high gun violence there doesn't not mean that the gun ban would never work there...it means the cops are not enforcing the ban if paid off. Have you never read up on this issue about Mexican law enforcement corruption? |

If you look at rates pre- and post-ban for most of these countries, you'll find that homicide rates were already low. It points to more of a cultural difference than anything to really do with gun bans. The only thing gun bans accomplish is decreasing homicide rates in which a gun was used. The rate as a whole is usually unchanged or increases (like in the UK). |
