Much of the world uses bidet's to clean their backside instead of toilet paper. Basically it shoots a stream of water up your rear. They are also frequently used in hospitals in the US. Many Americans find the concept disgusting, while much of the rest of the world finds the idea of toilet paper very un-hygienic.
I am actually considering buying a bidet like this, but I think I'm leaning towards one that heats the water a little first...
