Not quite sure what all the fuss is about, I ordered one picked it up at my store the next morning. Went to best buy and bought a 4gb ram stick for 25 bux, slapped it in.

this thing is awesome! whoever says this netbook is a POS, must seriously fail at using computers.
mine plays 1080p fluidly, smooth, and without issues. (streaming, native, and HDMI Out)
its pretty snappy for a netbook too.

+1 for this
this is what i was talking about. don't know why only few people get it?

If anyone cares, I have the latest version of world of warcraft running/playing on this netbook.

everything set to low, except view distance is set to fair. screen resolution is native in full screen. (1366x768) it runs decent. as good as ur gonna get on a netbook, but it is definitely very playable! I'm sure a few more tweaks will make it even better, but I can live with this.

i seem to having issue with the wireless at home, i just doesn't want to get connection, it would connect to the network, but it just stays at "identifying", or sometimes even it's connected, for no reason it just doesn't reach outside world, I have two routers at home, when it works it works with both, when the wireless is having issue, both doesn't work. I'm gonna play with it more but if it keeps doing it, then it's going back to the store.
also, playing netflix is having a lag problem with the video when playing in HD mode. I'm holding off buying the 4GB ram stick because of the wifi issue.

lastly, when you do a clean install with win8, there are 3 partitions, first is Acer, second is Push Button Reset, and third is Recovery. Do you guys wipe off all 3 partitions or just install it on the "Acer" partition and leave the Reset and Recovery partition alone?

I reinstalled and wiped all the partitions and started from scratch.

Did you try downloading the latest wireless driver from the Acer site? That fixed my wireless problems I had.

ok, tried that, there are 3 wireless downloads, Atheros has the date of 2012/12/04
broadcom and realtek along with all other drivers are 2012/10/02 like when it's built.
tried to download the broadcom anyways, first try the wireless connection died halfway through download. restarted and used wired to download, installed the driver and it seems to have the same issue. I guess it's time to find another machine.
anyone knows what the return period for walmart on laptops?

Make sure it installed properly. Check the device manager. If it's installed properly and you still have problems then you might have a bad wireless card in the laptop.

i posted drivers for the atheros somewhere in this thread (that's the one mine has). when i tried using acer's drivers, my wifi didn't work either.

btw, after installing 4GB of ram, i didn't notice an major increase in speed.. for what it's worth. still stutered with netflix/youtube.

I'm positive there's something weird about the software setup for video. Streaming youtube is great in IE, ok in Chrome and terrible in Firefox. I've played around with a lot of settings and so far haven't been able to fix it.

it is possible because of the new GPU chipset, it is 7290 and I googled and nothing comes up, possible the current driver does have issue with this new chipset, maybe keep an eye out for a new catalysis driver

im quiet upset over this video issue because my older C-50 was able to play video better than this newer setup, it's unbeliavable I can't even play the stupid bejeweled on facebook

C-70 is new chip that came out of nowhere. Might take time for AMD drivers to filter down.

Did you do a clean install? IIRC, the older C-60 OEM install had newer video drivers than what was available from amd.com for a while. Might want to compare driver versions.

actually i just researched that and there's a solution http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=49149220&postcount=272

i just bought the thing myself, since it should be able to play netflix/hulu.

The fix in the linked thread is specific to Win7. I just went into the Win8 screen resolution menu and I don't see the same menus. I looked around and don't see anywhere I can enabled or Turn-On the acceleration. Maybe Win8 handles this by default, just wondering if anyone else found out if this is necessary.

you just open up your AMD driver software, and click on the same setting.. i did it on win8 myself.

the truth is that it didn't make much of a difference though. before i turned on that setting, videos stuttered.. and the same thing happened after.

i also returned the laptop to walmart, but they kept the $6 recycling fee, the guy told me "this is going to the trash" which makes no sense at all. it's going back to acer, to be sold as a refurb.. it's not being recycled at all.

I was worried after reading everyones thoughts on this laptop with it being to slow but after my brother opened it up at are christmas celebration get togather yesterday on christmas day after the setup it seemed to be very speedy out of the box, more so then the AO722 C-60 I gave my uncle in 2011, I did give him the memory link of kingston memory that was mentioned in this thread in case he wanted to but even he said he thought it was running good for what it is and fast enough.

I'm curious to know if you tried the latest drivers from AMD or did you just test with the drivers that Acer provides?
