that does not sound good. i guess the newer versions of all colorful controllers will not support normal mini usb charger. I saw multiple instances that people complained about charging these new colorful controllers.

Good to know, useful information. Thanks! I need to simplify, not complicate things with one oddball controller that can't be charged like the rest. Mine will be going back too. I'll wait for another bundle deal with a regular black, blue or red controller.

I thought maybe I'd be able to exchange it for another color but if it comes with "WALMART EXCLUSIVE" plastered across the box that certainly won't work. Guess if I'm annoyed enough I could always return it without a receipt.

Here's an update. I went ahead an ordered the official SONY PlayStation branded wall charger. (You can see it here)

It's the official Sony branded charger so this HAS TO work. If it works, I guess I'll keep them. At 22 bucks for each controller plus 14 for the new charger I'm still at $58 for 2 controllers and an official charger and I figured, if this is the first of many more dualshock controllers to come that will only charge using the official charger, then I might as well update my charger now.

Now, if not even with the official charger these do charge, then they're going back for sure. I refuse to have to charge my controllers hooked up to the ps3 like a 10 year old who funds his gaming habits with his allowance. Let alone that crap is dangerous. It's like back in the day when there used to be a cord between your controller and your console, and some clueless numb nuts would walk by, trip with the cord and off goes your console flying across the room.

I'm supposed to receive the new charger by Monday. I'll keep you guys posted with the results.

FWIW, this controller charges with the dreamgear move power stand.

there's a power switch on the stand that you can switch on or off to charge the accessories, and the ps3 does not need to be on while charging.

i dont have a wall charger to test whether it will charge or not.

I tried exchanging this for the clear see through blue controller and the customer support at B&M store said no because I got it off walmart.com and they can't exchange because of the price I got it for bah.

I have the Sony charging station and can confirm that it charges with this $22.00 Walmart controller.

Yep. I paid $24.00 on Buy.com 's Ebay store. Amazon's got A better price.

Man, returning an online order at a B&M WM is a joke. Returned a $10 game filler I threw in for FS...they had to fill out an online return form, where they had to manually write down the upc, order #, among other info... and even though the money had been taken from my paypal account for 5 days, they HAD to credit the money back to a credit/debit card. Took easily 5x as long as it should have, and wth...just give me the $10 cash!

Still a good price, but about the worst online/in-store collaboration I could have imagined for a giant retailer like WM.

I didn't go through as much as you did. My return was fairly simple and quick (~3,4 mins) But I did have to put the money back on my card or get store credit. Asked her if i could just get cash and she said no. No big deal...just glad I was able to return the games since I've had GTA IV since its original release date.
