Too bad I have exhausted all the reps for today. Even if it was the same size they use different chips. The good thing is that CLI-8 have been around much longer, so if you pick a reputable vendor you should not have any issues. Try this 15/set (3 of each color) from TonerPals, 99% seller rating, for $6.70+3.33 (67c each): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001R9ATYK |

I don't know if it's true or not but isn't it bad for the print head to print without ink? I used to have an hp that didn't seem to mind but rather not take any chances, no more warranty for mine. |

I had at least 6 HP printers fail (specifically, the printheads) in attempts to introduce continuous ink setups and generic ink. Replacement printheads often outweigh the cost of the printer itself. If they don't come boxed in G&G packaging (individual boxes, labeled), it's not G&G |

yea you have to have at least some ink in all tanks for printing. the printer does use some of all the colors even if you only print b&w, company claims its necessary to protect printhead from damage but I think it's just their way of sucking more ink faster so you pay them sooner. |

Whether lack of ink potentially damages your printheads--I cannot answer. But I will say that I have continued using the same printerheads without fail after many ink replacements. And I always wait until the carts are bled dry. Want to know what can and will permanently damage printheads? Bad ink 6+ dead HP printers can't be wrong ![]()
No, the cartridges (or rather, the chips) have to be installed--the carts themselves can be completely barren inside, and still work. I've got a box full of dozens of completely dry carts--so that fact I'm certain of. It'll just carry on as if the missing ink is present. If I recall correctly, HP printers actually just plain shutdown and refused to do ANYTHING when a low-ink cart alert came up. Last edited by MOkoFOko; 12-16-2012 at 08:51 PM.. a friend I used to work with had about 5 ip4200 printers which were all damaged by CISS, never gonna use those. he actually ordered printheads from ebay for about 50 each and switched to uses carts from ebay. he used those printers until he got the waste ink tank full message and he finally switched to a canon mg5320 and he ordered about 10 sets of ink from abacus on my recommendation. He's had it for about 3 months now and prints mainly photos, he's sorta a freelance photographer now. Last edited by nc3780; 12-16-2012 at 09:01 PM.. |

http://www.meritline.com/canon-pg...75805.aspx Image shows an actual G&G label. If you want to read up on G&G, check reviews, etc, you can search through slickdeals for meritline ink deals, and only read the reviews prior to June 2012--after that, they started swapping in other inks and exclusively sold G&G brand in the "G&G compatible" listings. |

It is a matter of research. Once you find a good vendor search their listings across platforms for the best price. For example, one of cartrdigewharehouse's listings has no reviews, doesn't mention "chip," so the price remains low at $3.90-4.17 per 5/set: amazon.com/dp/B0060C6NY4 [amazon.com].

The pics on meritline look exactly like the ones I'm using at store. also the pics from abacus are small but they look the same. I never actually looked at the brands or read the packages cus I know they will work lol but I'll check tomorrow to be sure. Are the boxes a reddish color? that's the only thing I remember atm. I'm gonna stay with abacus until the day they switch to unknown brands which I hope doesn't happen. |
