I have been told that the top-up cards are valid for 1 year and can be used with existing number. So I ordered 12 for one year! Can't beat $20/month any day!
I chat with the C/S and he said the SIM card is valid for 1 year but the Top-Up PIN (attached to the SIM card packaging btw) is only valid for 60 days from the purchase date. Can anybody verify the correct info?

Google Voice allows forwarding calls and masking caller ID when you make outgoing calls to be your GV number. It would use your cell minutes (on Ptel PAYGO that's 5c/min). If you also install Talkatone, it would use the wifi or cell DATA to make & receive calls (10c/MB). Talkatone's standard VoIP compression uses about 0.5MB/min). So 250 MB is about 500 talk minutes if using VoIP fulltime (and no other data use). It's about the same as the 5c/min cell talk minute on the PAYGO plan.

If on monthly unlimited plans you should definitely conserve data to only data use apps and not use Talkatone, just Google Voice for SMS & callerID masking. If on limited talk min, but more data plan, install Talkatone or some other VoIP app.

But Ptel's monthly unlimited plan isn't as attractive compared to Simple Mobile, Straight Talk, or GoSmartMobile.com for example, which has $35/mo for unlimited talk, txt, and 2G data.
The problem with masking the outgoing the GV number is that 90% of the people I call wont answer my calls. Is there a way to make calls through GV , use my plan minutes and let people see my GV number (which would be my current cell number I am porting over) on IOS ?
Also whats the speed of smartmobile data and what provider do they use?

Just use google voice app to make calls.
They use tmobe and so it's edge 2g only on iPhone unless you are lucky and have new 3G network in your area.

Not so sure what's so special here. Nothing beats T-Mobile $30/ month plan.
unlimted minutes vs 100minutes for 10dollars.

I think you misunderstood me. Using Google Voice app will automatically make sure your outgoing calls will show up using your GV number on your destination person's callerID. And without a VoIP app, it will use your cell account minutes too. You have to make sure the settings are setup correctly in the GV app though, I can't speak for iOS since I'm using Android.

With a jail broken iPhone you can get the SMS GV Extension & Phone GV Extension from Cydia. They are not apps, they integrate with the OS. Your text messging and calls will use your google voice account. Incoming texts use push notifications instead of regular messaging, so incoming texts are free. You set it so the outgoing calls use either your carrier, google call back, or gv direct dial (data).

They currently do not work with iOS 6.

GrooveIP works great for google voice on android.

I received my order today but I don't see the $40 top up card there. What information is for the $40? There is an invoice there. TIA

There is an activation pin on the paper attached to the sim card. I'm wondering if this is it and whether the pin on the other package will work on a different sim card.

it used to be pretty good for me too, but in the last few months signals dropped significantly wherever i go... i barely get any reception at home anymore... to me that's a signal the company is going downhill...
Change your settings on the phone to GSM only, you will be surprised how much more signal you get when you change from GSM/WCDMA auto, of course you will only get 2g signal, but your text msgs and phone calls will connect better but YMMV but it works for me.
