Nice find. Hmm, I've got the Samsung 43" PN43E450 sitting in box ready to gift (actually same E440 model from Sam's). Paid $40 more than this. Trying to decide if it's worth it to change to this one. Everyone raves about Panasonic plasma; great reputation, best black levels. The Samsung is 1" more diagonal, sleeker bezel, 2" depth (1" less than this Panasonic), and is energy star.
Intended primary use is to watch auto racing. TV will be a room that gets average amount of light, anyone know which has less glare? Any other opinions appreciated.
Thanks for the heads up. After EB cashback, this is only a few bucks more than the 39" TCL I picked up for my son's bedroom from Costco. For me it's a no brainer to go with a Panny Plasma over that set, even if 720p. From his viewing distance, it won't be a discernable difference from 1080p.
We have a 55 in Panny Plasma in the living room that has the most gorgeous picture I have ever seen. I feel the switch is worth the trouble. Rep'd.
Paid $368 via SD for this set exactly one year ago. Gorgeous picture, adequate sound. My room gets a fair amount of light and glare is rarely an issue. However, depending upon the angle I can see where it certainly could be. Glare would be about the only caveat I'd have in recommending this set.
I've got the TC-P42X1 that I got maybe 4 years back for $480 and that was a killer front page price at the time. The TV has been wonderful. (actually replacing because I jumped on the 55GT50 on the front page a few days ago). I can't say I've seen this particular TV in person but even if they improved it slightly over the last 4 years $350 is a hell of a price. I've left Xbox/Netflix everything on overnight for 8+ hours and there is no burn it at all on my older model.
Girlfriend is still assuming we're going to be able to get her parents a 1080p 42+" tv for under $400 before Christmas, as they're getting a BluRay player and they've still got an old CRT. Refuses to consider a brand like Haier or Spectre. Any advice?
