Don't see how that makes it (toptiergas.com) reputable, .com sites aren't exactly independent or unbiased. I don't really hear about many cars breaking down from gas lacking sufficient detergent. I'd say that the 10% ethanol is much worse than anything else people blindly put into their car.

Throttle bodies need occasional cleaning. Throttle body is the vaguely carburetor looking thing that controls air intake. If the air flap thing sticks, you stall. I just use a can of Bennyman's carb cleaner. That warning about not receiving a rebate, and the weaselish "original no copies" BS is enough to scare me off.

I used sea foam in the 900 SE turbo and it cleaned it out a bit. Get a bit of throttle body cleaner and a shop towel and you can clean the butterfly valve of the throttle very easily. With sea foam you can take the vaccum lead that is plugged in directly ontop of the manifold off. Start there car and youll see it has a low pressure suction on it. Slowly siphon the can of sea foam into the vacuum line and you car will weez and whine but shouldn't stall. Let it idle for some time then go on a cruze. Youll notice the car will pour out white smoke from the tailpipe, after about 10 mins of driving the seafoam will be completely out of the system and you will have clean vacuum lines and clean engine. Better throttle response, Idle will be smoother, and fuel economy should improve marginally. Pouring things into the gas tank rarely does anything.

FWIW - I bought this last time it was on sale and tried it on my 2003 vehicle. In my opinion, it made a difference. The car started easier (probably from a cleaner throttle body) and the initial idle was smoother. Definitely worth it for this price!

Isn't the gas regulated in the US that stuff like this is useless? Like someone else said snake oil.

That's not really true. Those additives have no effect on the buildup of carbon residue in the intake system because the fuel is injected just above the intake valve, or directly into the cylinder in the case of a DI engine. Buildup of carbon residue in the intake system occurs upstream of the valve and is significant. Buildup on the valve itself occurs over time despite the detergents added to gasoline and the television commercials that tout them.

snake oil! this stuff will do nothing. or so little it will make no difference to performance or milage or reliability.

If you use good fuel this is not needed.
