I have a Canon and ordered the LX7 yesterday as part of a kit for $322 FS no tax with memory card and case.

The Canon has some advantages such as using the full 1/1.7" sensor rather than a crop of it like the LX7 using effectively 1/1.9". Canon's aperture ring can be assigned to other functions, but not the LX7's. The Canon has greater zoom. And Canon doesn't use a lens cap. However, the LX7 has a faster lens, especially at the long end, a flash shoe, and "supposedly" a better auto mode. Both cameras are appealing, and I ordered an external TTL LX7 compatible bounce flash for $43 to go with my LX7.

this is a point and shoot, albeit a high end one. micro 4/3 cameras still have a much bigger image sensor than this category of cameras though (compare four thirds system to 1/1.7" here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_sensor_size)
