Its hard to know for sure. If you notice the last digit in the cents column went up sequentially each time the price changed. If anyone knows how Amazon's pricing algorithm works and could comment on it we might be able to figure whether this is about it for price reductions. Definitely dont wait if you are interested in the receiver for its current price because it may run out of stock. If the price decreases between the time you order it and it gets delivered you can contact Amazon and they will give you the price adjustment. After it gets delivered they may not agree to further adjustments to your account, but then again if the price reduction is significant enough then it may be worth ordering the unit a second time and then return the first one.

I called - since it didn't ship yet they cannot price adjust, but the lady said she noted my account and she would call ME tomorrow to credit me the $25 when it ships. If I don't hear from them by 8pm Call in and I will get my price adjust.

Why not cancel this order and then get the new price.

Just chatted with amazon again, and it is so embarrassing to ask for another price-match within 2 hours. Fortunately amazon make it easy. $398 for a brand new 809, wow.

No more price drop, please. Please.

I have contacted Amazon three times since I placed my order for the receiver to get the price adjusted. They have agreed to do it each time. But the first two times I contacted them was before the receiver was delivered. The third time was this evening after I had gotten the delivery. I asked whether I will be able to get a further price adjustment if the price drops again tomorrow and here is what the customer rep replied:

Please note that we're only able to price match on a single order only once. however, considering the significant price drop, we've honored it for you.

i won't recommend any particular speaker brands as what sounds good to me may not for you and etc. etc. but since you are about to blow through most of your budget, and if you were considering a 5.1 system originally, I would focus on just getting the two rear speakers for now and use them as your fronts speakers. They will cost less and should hold you over until you can get your two front channel, center channel and a nice subwoofer.

Warranty is key with any Onkyo receivers. The most unreliable brand on the market.

I'm surprised they did the price adjustment. I've been under the impression from talk here and speaking to a Amazon rep that they don't do that anymore and haven't done it for a while. TV's they will price match within a certain time frame I do know.

Will this keep dropping in price?
