Thread Details

Firstly, did a search and this is not a repost since the deal doesn't require a coupon code. Plus, this method allows for up to 3 domains registered at once for 99 cents each.

While googling "namecheap coupon," a Godaddy ad showed up. I know many aren't fond of Godaddy, largely due to their terrible Super Bowl commercials. Oh, and the SOPA thing, I suppose...

Anyways, it's a cheap domain option for testing websites before they become worthy of renewal.

If the link doesn't show a yellow box on the GD page saying "SPECIAL OFFER! .COM just $0.99*! Additional .COMs just $7.99* per year!", then do a Google search for "namecheap coupon" and it should show up.

>Make sure to change the Term from 2 years to 1 year in the cart to see the discounted price.

Is namecheap a good domain place to buy/keep your domains? Or are they just cheap?

I have been renewing with godaddy for more than $5. Is this a sale at namecheap or is that always $5 for renewals/transfers?

Namecheap is actually like $10 per year ($9.69, I believe with coupon), but they give free Private Registration for every domain so that your personal details aren't shown on the public whois database. Godaddy charges like $10 a year for private registration, so it's about a wash.

Personally, registrars are all the same to me, but namecheap is highly regarded. Godaddy took a real hit when they were in support of SOPA, so many people hate them. I'm not a fan of SOPA either, so when prices are similar, I always go with namecheap.

Support wise, I've always gotten courteous support from both registrars.

Namecheap has been rated the best by a couple of places (lifehacker is the one I remember).

Also, the $5 1-year transfer and renewal is a normal price, go to their homepage and click on the tab for transfer.
