I was hoping it would dump another 15-20% in price today, but ours are still $349. Not touching it at that price. Especially when they just had that much better 47" Panasonic for only $80 more:

This is only a SD sub-$300 because of the poor sound, IMO.

Can anyone compare this tv to the 1080p 42 Panasonic from Amazon. I know one is LCD and one is LED but any other opinions would be great.. thanks. http://slickdeals.net/f/5720690-Panasonic-VIERA-TC-L42U5-42-Inch-1080p-60Hz-Full-HD-LCD-TV-at-Amazon-389-00
For god-sakes people, LED is LCD. Flat panel TV's are all either LCD or plasma. LED is just the backlighting. I feel like I'm going to go crazy if I one more person says LED is better than LCD. Its the same friggin thing dammit!

gah. yeah, i got the 5% off, so it came out to $360 OTD.

I actually saw it in BB because they have it on sale for $400 currently (reg. priced at $450). it looked fine, and seemed to sound okay actually but i couldn't tell with all the other noise in there.

not sure what to do with this one...i thought i got a really good deal, but not so sure anymore. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Does anybody know if it is multi systems? Usually all TV set sold in USA are marked as NTSC only, but sometimes vendors are too lazy to disable PAL in decoding chip.

If you are paying outta your own pocket, why on earth would you get this Sharp TV? The only reason I get it is because I've accumulated quite a few Target GCs from the last round of $10 free GC deal.

If you pay on your own, do NOT get this old outta date tech HDTV. Get something jazzier like the Panasonic from Amzn.

Countries that utilize PAL often use 220V and 50Hz. This TV uses 120V+60Hz. How you gonna make it work in PAL countries?

Why is it old tech? It looks like it was just released this November, no?

Is there a chance of ever finding a good 40 inch for 350? When I was browsing bb, the only tvs for that price were 32 inch Vizio and Westinghouse. I'm assuming this TV is better, but could be wrong.

Just because it was released recently does not mean it is utilizing the newest technology.

That's true. I was just wondering what about it was specifically old tech?

Like i said I purchased this out of my own pocket and wondering if I should keep it or not.

I honestly wanted to get a decent tv for 300, but this came up so I bought it thinking it was a good deal.

Wondering if I should keep it or hold out for something better, I'm not really in a rush.

If it were for me, I wouldn't touch it (plasma guy all the way), but this would be for my in-laws, who have a small space that requires a 37", 39", or 40", and this fits the bill. LCD or Plasma doesn't matter to them, and LCD is cheap. If this or any other brand name (no hiteker, coby, vizio, westinghouse, etc) in this size goes sub-$300, even 720p, I will get it, for sure. They'll be thrilled with it. At this price, though, no sale. It's not a SD.

What's sub 300? Like 320..I mean this is only 15 bucks more than for 1080p, a good amount of hdmi ports and other connection.

Obviously some people are complaining about the sound, but it's 2 of the 11 people on the bb reviews and no tv under 46 inch seems to have great speakers.

$300 breaks the SD threshold on this one. I'm in CA, so we have recycle fees AND tax. When I say sub-$300, I'm thinking like $260-$270 before it becomes a SD. I'm quite disciplined about what is and isn't a SD, and holding out for a real one. This is not a great set. I can afford to miss it, and catch the next better deal, but if I DO get it at $260-$270 before tax/recycle fee, that's fine.

damn. you are really making me think this is a shitty tv. Mad

when i saw the picture at best buy, it looked good to me. the bezel looks kind of big and clunky.

so i'm just wondering what is crappy about it or if someone could link me to a better tv in the $300-350 range at this size so i know what to look out for in the future.
