These free movies are from Vudu, which does have Roku support - in fact other in this thread state you get credit on your account for linking your Roku to your Vudu account. I don't know if CinemaNow is supported on Roku or not.

CinemaNow came into the conversion because some people where asking about HD, I noticed CinemaNow would show these moves as available in HD - however others stated even when it says that, it is not in HD.

Basically the confusion I think comes into play because UltraViolet is a service that just stores if you have a license to view a certain movie and in what format. To see/play the movie you have to visit a site that supports UV and actually has the movie you are licensed to see. Currently I believe that is limited to three sites Vudu, CinemaNow, and Flixster.

So if you buy any UV movie, from any company or as part of any BluRay, and you have your Vudu, CinemaNow, and Flixster accounts linked to your UV account - as long as that site has the movie you are licensed for (as determined by UV) they can and will stream/allow downloading of the movie.

For example - this deal from Vudu gives us 10 UltraViolet movies, those movies are added to our UV account (http://www.uvvu.com/). Now if you login to another service that supports UV like CinemaNow or Flixster you can watch any of the 10 movies that those services also carry.

In this case 9 out of the 10 movies can be watched on CinemaNow or Flixster (once Vudu adds them to your UV account) - the one movie that cannot be watched from the other services is Lethal Weapon Director's Cut. This is because both CinemaNow and Flixster don't carry the directors cut of Lethal Weapon. So in this case you have to watch this from Vudu - and in your case if Roku only supports Vudu you would watch all these movies on the Roku from Vudu.
Great explanation. Thanks and repped!

You can always try doing the linking and un-linking again (or for the first time)
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=56238736&postcount=10

If you do the linking/un-linking make sure to wait a few minutes in the "new" account and verify all movies show before un-linking and linking back to original account.
I think there site was just slower earlier its working now thanks.

FYI... They have changed the Psycho movie from the Original to the 1998 version -- so if you repeat the steps from my previous post (copied below for reference) you can add that movie to your collection too.

The only drawback is that doing this multiple times causes your UV account to show the other 9 movies duplicated twice (or more depending on how many times you do this) - not really a big deal since if you go to view the movies from either VUDU to Flixster they only show unique "copies" thus you only see it listed once (but if viewed from CinemaNow they show all including the duplicates).

-------------------------------------------------

Steps to add move's to existing accounts:
If you already have a Vudu account and have it linked to UltraViolet already and you want the movies.

Unlink your Vudu account from UltraViolet.
Logout of Vudu.
Create new Vudu account (using OP's link) and link it to your existing UltraViolet Account.
10-movies will be added to your UV account.
Now unlink your new Vudu Account and your UV account.
Logout of Vudu.
Log back into Vudu with your original account and re-link UV.
The 10 free movies should now be added to the original account along with any previous movie's from Vudu (in addition to any free UV movies from http://www.flixster.com/ you may have gotten)

Also in case you don't know if for some reason you have multiple UV accounts you can merge them together into one from the UV account page (my.uvvu.com)

Do at your own risk, not responsible for any lost movies, account deactivation, or anything else. Smilie

-------------------------------------------------

For those that want to stream to android and Vudu isn't compatible

If you don't already have a http://www.flixster.com/ account create one and link it to your UV account. If you already have a flixster account link it to your UV account if you haven't yet.

Then install the flixster android app:
https://play.google.com/store/app...mRyb2lkIl0

Now you can watch all the "Vudu" movies from flixster connected to UV. (Assuming your device is compatible with Flixster - mine is not with Vudu but is fine with Flixster - just tested streaming The Producers just fine).

-------------------------------------------------

The movies should be in your UV account... so when you unlink in VUDU they will "be gone" from that account until you relink it again with your UV account.

To check what movies you have in UV http://www.uvvu.com/

(or are you saying that they are removed from http://www.uvvu.com/ after you unlink your VUDU?)

Thanks op repped but I am now the proud "owner" of ten cute tiles that do absolutely nothing. Clicking on them yields blank player box that eventually displays "can't connect to server error 5000"on my laptop. Win 7 chrome. Followed the link to adobe where the flash diagnostics checked out. No problem viewing flash content on y-tube, Amazon or anywhere else but vudu.

Lots of time wasted, huge pita. Compared to Amazon I'd give vudu a minus 10. Even if I can eventually play these free SD movies I will never buy any "digital playback rights" from vudu after this experience. What happens to those when this company goes belly up? I understand how the studios want to protect their content but unless one is guaranteed access in perpetuity nothing is really "owned" at all. The promise of "download rights" is a sham since you can never burn a disc. One way to fix that might be to guarantee the right to purchase a hard disc for a small fee. Until that happens you'll always just be renting; the promise of a virtual digital library remains elusive.

Lots of folks do not want their cc stored on these sites which is another negative.

Since the movies are UV movies, try logging in to http://www.flixster.com/ or http://www.cinemanow.com/ and see if their players are "better". (as long as you have these accounts linked to your UV account you will be able to watch 9 out of 10 of these movies on these other services - only Lethal Weapon Director's Cut not available from these two other services).
