Very nice price but too bad it's not my cup of tea. I wish Omega would make the Planet Ocean Chrono in the same color as the original Liquidmetal, I hate the blue color of the chrono version but love the liquidmetal idea.
You can also get a 2824 in a $150 swatch, lol.
The point has already been made that these are modded ETA movements, not just off-the-rack movements. But the point is made... I have an older Omega with an ETA movement, and a slightly newer no-name watch (an Ollech and Wajs) with the same movement. There is one major difference, though, and that is that one has a chronometer certificate and the other does not (and the one in the Omega is, in regular use, more accurate than the other). Not all ETA movements are created equal. I remember at the time that I bought the second watch that an off-the-rack ETA movement was around $100 and one with a chronometer certificate was significantly more. I can't vouch for everything I just posted being 100% accurate, it's just what I remember.
WE ARE THE 89%!!
(that is, the 89% that don't care if "CA tax kills the deal")
People still wear watches? Out of 16 people on my team, only one wore a watch. Maybe a good investment idea would be to short companies that have a significant portion of their sales in watches.
Swiss Automatic Watch is viewed as social status symbol in most eastern Asian nations, especially China. You will mostly likely be treated differently when you are wearing a Rolex,AP,Cartier but Seiko or Citizen. It's a necessity for anyone who wants to be treated nicely by the service personnel at the hotels, airport, or shopping malls, etc.
Tag's 1887 just won the best dress watch for 2012 for a Swiss magazine. Tag is also moving to some serious in-house caliber movements from 2013. I bought my Carrera 3 weeks ago (and love it btw) and my AD said Tag may be using solid casebacks for watches using ETA based movements. This means the new Carrera based on Caliber 16 (v7750) may have a solid caseback moving forward. All watches using 100% in-house movements will be the ones using sapphire clear casebacks.
Prior to buying the Carrera, I also considered a used Rolex (from the AD), Breitling SuperOcean (black dial) and Longines.
I went for the Carrera simply cos I've owned v7750 watches in the past and have very good lucky with this movement and the fact I love chrono dials. The Carrera was also more dressier. BTW, Breitling also uses base v7750 just like Tag (and other companies) but do their own custom work on it.
Not dishing Breitling but I find the Tag line more appealing (like another poster said...to each his own).
On topic, this is a great price for a Breitling. Bummer the yellow accents won't make it 'office-friendly'.
As always, keep in mind online vendors are NOT authorized dealers so Breitling may not honor the warranty directly (guess Jonashop will handle warranty in-house or use outsourced Jewellery places like Amazon does).
Quite a few Tags are autos (Carrera, Grand Carrera, Link, Aquaracer, etc), but from what I've read, they're generally not known for the same level of quality that Breitling are. Tags (at least used to) use ETA movements for all but their most expensive lines (Grand Carrera possibly?). I believe Breitling use in-house movements, and are generally considered to be on a level with Omega.
Nothing wrong with ETA movements though IMO. Tags certainly have a different look that I tend to prefer, but to each their own.
Great deal for this Breitling though.
Tag mostly have quartz movements. Breitlings have superior caliber movements. Automatic watches FTW.
too sporty for a breitling imo. i like the classic breitling style. this one is trying to be too modern and that's not what breitling is about. just my opinion!
(nothing wrong with rubber straps, btw - all depends on the watch)
you're not kidding. you could post "Free week-long vacation with Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johansen on a 120 foot yacht with the purchase of any package of Skittles from 7-11. Use coupon code THREESOME to get half off of the Skittles."
you know what you're going to get? TD for not posting YMMV. TD for not being able to replicate the deal in Somalia or at Circle K. TD for listing in the hot deals forum instead of the coupon forum. TD b/c someone posted the same deal 22 years ago.
Good price for the brand but not a great looking watch. I prefer TAG.
TAGs are good quality, but you cannot compare the two. As an owner of both and as someone who has been in the Jewelry business for 20 years, it's like comparing an Acura with a Bentley.... Simply can't compare.....
+1 to who wears watch and who pays 1700 for watch, etc etc...social status symbol in China hilarious!! Sir, I would love to help you, but that watch looks made in china fake rolex or whatever extremely expensive watches are!
