Damn you slickdeals! In for 1!
Lowest price since April - July 2009, not counting the 2% back. Last edited by Son of Dad; 12-20-2012 at 02:03 PM.. Reason: Tri Camel info "I sense great vulnerability. A man-child crying out for love. An innocent orphan in the post-modern world."

Obvious at this price, but, no IS. I have used the IS version, and love it - it's just MUCH more expensive. Not sure how much I would miss the IS.
Very tempting, though. I've already spent way too much this year, and my wife would probably kill me if I got this, but... |

Depends what you take pictures of. If you shoot things that exclusively require something like 1/2000 sec shutter speed like action scenes, sports, or whatnot then IS is unimportant. But if you shoot at normal shutter speeds and prioritize lower ISO, then you're gonna miss the IS big time. |

I've owned two of these before... and I always wound up selling them. I am just so blown away by some of my primes... and the zoom just doesn't cut the mustard. I'm not trying to start a debate on primes v. zooms, but it is just such a difference.
But it is a good lens if you have plenty of light. It's big so you will get noticed... whether that is a good or bad thing is up to you. It's not so big that it is cumbersome. Having a great time and visiting family are mutually exclusive.

nanotube, Nikon seems to be more expensive than Canon in general. But the IS (or VR in Nikon terms) version of this lens is not cheap, either.
I would check out the comparisons between the two lenses at http://www.the-digital-picture.com. You can compare pretty much any Canon and Nikon lens, and at various apertures and often from multiple bodies. |

I saw this price 2 days ago and ordered at $559.
- then I called back yesterday and asked them about the 10% off $100 promo that expired a few days ago and was able to get them to do a courtesy credit Also not sure if this online purchase would qualify for the current 5% Discover CB so might be a good idea to use your discover card, which is what I did.$559 - $56 (10% disc) - $28 = $475 net |

you need to compare the nikon 70-200 f/4 VR to this: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-70-20...non+70-200 that would be it's equal |
