Thanks to the wonders of ignore, I was blissfully unaware that he was still even here, until you quoted him. That 3rd person things simply got too obnoxious to take.

Not positive but I have read that if you clear out line two of the shipping address it will work. I dunno

I got the Ooma last year and love it! The only problem is trying to call my voicemail when I am away with my cell phone. It rarely works. Frown

I paid $60 for Premier for one year.

I can't get free shipping either. I do have a residential address. It must be something else or free shipping is dead.

I have an Obi with Google Voice. Could anybody shed some light on how Ooma would compare to Obi w/GV?

Same here. Cleared line two and it Econoship option magically showed up.
Repped and big thanks to you for the helpful tip. Repped the OP and the deal (as it is customary), not that OP needs any new reps as he has quite a few already...

Ooma
- very easy to setup and easy to use
- include e911 support
- good sound quality
- device is tie to Ooma and has no resale value because they charge $80 reactivation fee. If Ooma is gone, the device will become useless.
- charge $3 to $9 a month taxes/fees

Obi
- will need more knowledge/steps to setup with GV.
- many people that own both Obi and Ooma said they both have good voice quality
- cheaper than Ooma (GV is free and no monthly taxes. And the device is as little as $40) but need to signup for separate 911 support if you want it.
- this is generic SIP device that can use with many Voip services and not just GV. So if something happen to GV, there are many low price alternative like Callcentric, Voip.ms, etc. Meaning you can sell it on ebay, etc easily.

If you are giving this to your parents or people not good at electronic (and you can't help them to maintain it), Ooma is better choice since much easier to setup and maintain even though cost a little more. Otherwise Obi w/GV is very good choice.

$30 for the device on sale, $40 at regular price. Plugs into your router and you can plug a traditional phone into the device. Works with Google Voice or callcentric for free calls. No guarantee Google Voice's free outgoing calls will continue for 2013 though.

Obi with GV is free. Smilie At least as long as GV is free, guess it will be for at least 2013, as they haven't said they would start charging yet. If you need to call 911 you just have to tell them your address or call from your cell and they could trace it. That or pay a minimum fee for 911 service. Quality is similar. Set up for Obi isn't hard as long as you establish your gmail and gv account before setting up the Obi. Ooma is a bit easier but not much.
