UHS-I cards are AWESOME for cameras that support them!
For new shooter, the only Canon/Nikon cameras that use UHS are T4i, 6D, D4, D800, D600 as far as I know. The 1Dx and 5DMk3 as well as all earlier cameras from both manufacturers don't support it. I'm not familiar enough with other manufacturer's offerings to provide a guideline. |

If you're in CA but have prime, you can still buy from Amazon, Its sold by beach camera so no tax even in CA.

i bought the same ones 32GB for 14.99 at costco during thanksgiving week. so its not a slickdeal but if someone wants one its not too bad a price

Are these the same ones that were $17.99 at Amazon and Adorama over BF weekend?
Also if these are UHS-1, why aren't they higher than 30MB/s? Guess I don't understand the designation. |

The write speed for these are rather low. I wouldn't recommend buying one of these for use in consumer level or higher dSLR cameras, especially if you're recording 1080p video.
From experience this review sums it up nicely: First test was performed on a computer using a software named "CrystalDiskMark". I ran the test with 3 different SD cards on the same pc with same equipments and same setting. Results: Sandisk Ultra 32GB class 10 30MB/s SD card, Read 19.93MB/s and write 11.99MB/s. Sandisk Extreme III 4GB class 6 SD (5 year old card), Read 18.67MB/s and write 16.67MB/s. Transcend 16GB class 10 SD (8 month old), Read 18.74MB and write 17.25MB. Second test was performed on Canon T3i DSLR with the same 3 SD cards tested above. In this test I set my DSLR to burst mode and TV mode with 1/50 sec. Within 30 seconds interval, I want to see how many pictures in RAW format my camera can shoot. Results: Sandisk Ultra 32GB class 10 30MB/s, 24 shots. Sandisk Extreme III 4GB class 6, 34 shots Transcend 16GB class 10, 33 shots. Note that this individual's SD card reader is capped at 20MB/s, actual read speed is higher. The T3i test is an eye opener; write speed is 40% higher on older Extreme III card. |
