Character Booster ruins this IMHO. Grinding, while very annoying at times, is part of the charm. Not to mention the extra levels gained from it helped.

Also I remember pulling out an old PC copy many years ago, and the minigames (such as the snowboarding game) would play in super fast motion. This was on an Athlon 64 x2. I'm sure they fixed that issue with this release.

i agree about the booster. taking "grinding" out of FF7 is like drinking non-alcoholic beer...

the booster isn't available in the game. you access it from your Square account and it edits the save game. i have no intention of using it...

just curious, why?
1-6 had consistent game play and theme... (well 6 had glimpses the horror that was soon to follow.. e.g. the train sequence). Also 1-6 felt like you had a new world to explore. 7 felt like a very linear path in the spirit of mystic realm or an early fps. It's also possible I just got old and bitter between 6 and 7's release.

OP--how far are you in the game? I had issues going to Disc 2 in the original PC port.

I respectfully disagree with your view on FF7, but I have to agree with you the world is much different from 5 to 7.

I've seen some great mods for the pc version, like HD graphics. I would research it some more but I would be interested if I could get a different experience than the one I had in 1997

actually my "lol" was quoted and not for you. i reported your post for being vulgar and having no business here. i assume you have never tried installing an old game on a modern PC. FF7 is widely known as one of those old games that was (until this 2012 re-release) nearly impossible to get running consistently....

and why would anybody brag about a PC powered by a CPU that came out in 2008?
I understand, I'm sorry to have upset you.

i started downloading the 15gb "compilation" but stopped after a playing the vanilla version for about an hour. it looks and more importantly plays great to me as is. i may play around with the mods later on, but for now i'm going for that freshman year in college nostalgia.
