Comcast Digital Economy

RUsum1 9,535 1,696 December 21, 2012 at 01:01 PM
I was on the phone with Comcast trying to get a new promo. The guy mentioned a bundle of Blast Internet and Digital Economy for essentially $45 for a year (Currently have Blast for a $29.99 promo and he mentioned adding Digital Economy TV would only add $15 to my bill and that's good for a year).

I asked what channels are included and he said there are about 50 channels including Discovery, TBS, TNT, and USA (so this is not just another term for Limited Basic which seems like a waste to me) along with 45 music stations. I then specifically asked about Disney Channel (for Phineas and Ferb of course) and ESPN (PTI and ATH) which he said are also included in that package. I told him I would have to go home and look at more info before making a choice because frankly that sounds like much too good of a deal to me if all of those stations are actually included. The only problem is I can't find anything about Digital Economy TV on the website.

Can someone help me find the full channel lineup for Digital Economy please. I just want to make sure he wasn't reading the list of channels from Digital Starter or something.

edit: In case it matters, my location is Charleston South Carolina. I know they say available channels vary by region.

edit 2: I did manage to find this link to a PDF [comcast.com] but it looks like it's specifically for Ann Arbor area.

If I get Digital Economy and then a HDHomerun Prime, would I automatically get HD channels because of the card that I would put into the Prime? Or would my TV package need to specifically have HD as part of it? I just don't know if HD is included in every plan as long as you have their box which they normally charge extra for.

Sorry no ESPN in economy package. It is basically beasic + few other(better channels) USA Animal planet etc but it does not include ESPN
That sucks about ESPN. I guess I would stick to the podcasts of the shows I watch then.

Do you have Digital Economy? If so, do you happen to have a channel list so I can compare it to the list I found for another city to see if there are any variances?

Sweet! So could you post a definitive channel list I should expect for my zip code 29414? That would help me a lot.

This shows ESPN which apparently isn't included in the Digital Economy. I know how to find a TV Guide of what is on each channel. I'm trying to find a list showing what channels are actually included in each package.

edit: Okay here is a list according to an email I got back from Comcast

I have a feeling they gave me the wrong list because it seems to include everything a person would want. I wrote back asking them to verify that the list is correct because if so, I'll sign up immediately and buy an HDHomerun Prime

Channel 2 COMCAST CHANNEL
Channel 3 MYTV CHOICE - LIMITED BASIC
Channel 5 The Weather Channel
Channel 6 WTAT, FOX
Channel 8 WCIV
Channel 9 WCSC
Channel 11 WITV
Channel 13 WMMP
Channel 14 WCBD
Channel 21 VH1
Channel 24 HSN
Channel 30 C-SPAN
Channel 33 CNBC
Channel 35 MTV
Channel 36 QVC
Channel 43 GAC
Channel 44 SPIKE
Channel 47 HALLMARK CHANNEL
Channel 52 TRAVEL CHANNEL
Channel 53 COMEDY CENTRAL
Channel 54 GSN
Channel 58 AMC
Channel 60 EDUCATION/GOVERNMENT
Channel 70 TV GUIDE NETWORK
Channel 71 WGN AMERICA
Channel 89 SHOPNBC
Channel 179 GSN
Channel 206 WITV, SC CHANNEL , PBS
Channel 207 WITV, ETV WORLD PBS
Channel 208 WCIV-METV
Channel 212 WCSC, CBS LIVE 5
Channel 213 WCSC, BOUNCE TV

Channel 230 WLCN
Channel 250 WAZS-LP
Channel 251 BLOOMBERG
Channel 270 LEASED ACCESS
Channel 801-846 MUSIC CHOICE
Now I don't see any TNT, TBS, USA, ESPN, Disney, Discovery, Cartoon Network...basically any channel a person would want is not included except Comedy Central. And their "nearly 50 channels plus 45 music stations" is actually less than 40 channels

Would LOVE to know how to do this? If I could pay $1 per channel or something like that, there would only be about ten channels I need on cable.

I don't think so. One of the things that is highly recirculated on Broadbandreports.com are complaint articles about cable companies forcing users to buy expensive packages that most consumers don't use and the biggest complaint is that the cable company absolutely DOES NOT want to employ a sort of a la carte menu pricing and let consumers pick and choose what channels they want most.

I don't think some channels would even be considered cable once they get a sense that customers don't even want them. TV Guide network? Don't they realize that nearly everyone with cable has a built-in guide?

QVC and HSN...seriously? Are people really paying $1000 for a four year old Dell computer because it comes with a free $20 printer and $600 "worth" of horrible software and virus protection?
