iSlick No Longer Allowed to Use 'Forums' Button...why?
Can we get an explanation for why slickdeals.net has forced the iSlick dev team to remove the 'forums' button that conveniently led to the post's deal page on slickdeals.net?Here's their long-winded public announcement:

B.S. this pretty much ruins the slickdeals experience for me, I don't have time to sit down at a computer most of the time. And it's too time consuming on my phone to go to the actual website.

I agree - this is a bad move in which they place their interests over the user. Ask Apple if they regret trying to kill google maps or youtube.

someone did some research and figured out they are losing referral money because of the app? I call it bullshit.

Since it isn't out for Android yet, there is no reason for SD to gimp the functionality for users of iSlick.

Problem is that the iSlick app redirects affiliate links when applicable leeching slickdeals of their revenue stream. Just like slickdeals monopolizes its referral links here, the app does exploit slickdeals infrastructure to make money on its own. The security issues sound bogus though. ISlick also has been introducing pseudo FP deals into its streams so be wary, some of them are ad biased and not vetted like the slickdeals FP is. What SD needs to do is improve its own app interface to be a little more robust, but what they have going is a good start. Once I noticed iSlick contaminating the FP posts, I've since switched to the slickdeals app
Two cents are two too many.

As the CEO of a site that has more revenue and actual stockholders, I am shocked that Slickdeals.net would be bawking at your app. Do they not understand they were so damn slow in getting an app of their own to market that a base had to create one? I would have fired the product manager who was too slow to develop an Offical SD app. And... probably more so, the fool that compalined about iSlick. Amazing.And an iPhone app for SD just got into the domain and yet no Android, which has a higher use base. Anyways, here are our concerns: 1. They never asked for permission to use our content. 2. They scraped all our content and presented it as their own. 3. They rewrite all our links using VigLink [viglink.com] so that it benefited them. 4. They pretended to be Slickdeals and previously used our logo for their app. They have since renamed it to iSlick but we feel that the name & logo is still confusingly similar. 5. There is enough evidence that our users think that iSlick is our official app or affiliated with us. 6. They have a login system. Coupled with the previous point, confused users will likely use the same username & password which is a security concern because we don't know what these guys do with your logins. If you used the same username & password, they could login as you. I'm not saying that they will, but they could. 7. They insert their own deals to their "Frontpage" deals section which is a carbon copy of ours. The deals they add are not vetted by us or our users. We have plans to improve our app. We will be adding a share button, notifications for deal alerts, settings to turn off fp notifications and options to remove images so that it is more compact.
