Just FYI - New discounts now showing when you Build a Bundle that drops the price down to $59.99 for the first two months, and then the normal $79.99 for months 3-24. Mine included the $300 gift card, $50 self install giftcard, and free hd set top box for life of account at this bundle price. See my post #42 on page 3 for explanation on how to get the bundle discount even if you are a current customer. - Bagginsworth

Whenever any of my bundle discounts expire, I call FIOS customer service 1 day before, and they rebundle it again.

I didn't have the patience to speak to retention yet
It seems they dropped the whole retention rep thing. I told my dad to call and try it after I secured $20 off per month last year, but the rep just said OK and cancelled. I tried it too after my deal just expired and there was no retention transfer, and I could only get $10/mo off my now $120/mo internet and TV service. Considering the Time Warner deal, but I'm concerned about the slower internet as I work from home.

I did something similar last year. I canceled the service under my name Chuong Nguyen. Create new order under my dad name Che Nguyen. I select option something like new move in. They called to verify, I told them Chuong Nguyen is the house owner, new customer "Me Smilie" Che Nguyen is renting the house. And they approved the order, it was an upgrade from Internet & TV before to Triple play, also got the visa gift card. Called in after the installation finished 2 days to cancel the old one. No break in service.
I plan to do the same thing next year, FIOS service is so reliable. Only bad thing is the cost will definitely go up after contract ends.
Good luck!

Just FYI,

I just logged on to the fios "Build your bundle" screen to check out pricing and they just added a new promotion. It's called the FIOS TV challenge credit and knocks a mimimum of $20 off the price for the first two months. You can actually select any of the TV packages including the Fios Extreme that comes with Showtime and some other premium stations for free and it is completely covered by this new credit making it worth upwards of $55 for the first two months. Keep in mind it will auto adjust after the two months to the original cost of whatever tv package you select.

Also if you select 75/35 for your internet speed and FIOS Extreme for your tv package, the Visa Gift card amount bumps up to $500.

PM me if you need a referral code for getting the $50 credit folks have been talking about.

Hope this helps. Saves you a minimum of $40 if you select the Fios Prime tv programming, and more if you select the higher tv packages.

-Matt

Brings that $79.99 package down to $59.99 for the first 2 months, and then $79.99 for months 3-24 of the contract.
Guys-
What if I want to keep my current FiOS number (I have the Triple Play). Can you retain the current phone number after creating the "new account"?

Mind if I ask how much more over 79.99 they are charging? I'd imagine it's a bunch of taxes.

I have standard verizon phone for $39 and almost $14 of that is in taxes (~35%) each month which is crazy ........
No this is before taxes an fees. I don't think all discounts are applied.

I guess they have no need for retention reps if they don't care about keeping customers.
Guess I'll cancel and get new under wife's name, or see what othera are offering while I'm looking for a new service.

FYI, I checked the box for the "one bill" service which upgrades your internet speed to 50/25 for free by agreeing to receive your wireless and fios bill together. Even though I do not have verizon wireless it gave me the upgrade and it was retained through checkout.

I live in Nashville also, I don't have those issues with Comcast. If they seem to drag their feet on an issue I threaten to cancel and that moves things along smoothly. I've never had to deal with a call going to Pakistan.....
Really? Maybe it's just where I'm living...(on the edge of brentwood, nolensville, and nashville) but mine cuts in and out all the time, which is a huge pain when online gaming...haven't had any issues streaming movies though.

Agree with this poster. I did this in the past and it worked out perfectly. Verizon is almost completely unwilling to work out as good of a deal for an existing customer as they are for new customers.

So I originally had the service in my name only, I cancelled my services, went online and opened a new account in only my wifes name. Everything went through just like it normally would with no questions asked.

Now her contract is expiring and they are jacking up the price by $40 a month with all the credits expiring so I just initiated it again. Just had my wife call and cancel her account and I went back online and ordered a new bundle with my name only.

When you go online to sign up for the bundle, enter your address, it will ask if the services are yours, so no, then it will ask if the original services are remaining or if you are replacing the current services, say that the original owner is moving out and you are starting new services there.

That's all there is to it.

I just ordered my new $79.99 Fios triple play bundle, it came with the $300 visa card, and also a free hd set top box for the life of the account. The DVR is going to cost $20 a month, so I am going to look into a HDHomerun box so I can return it.

My new services are being activated in the next few days, but I don't anticipate any problems just like last time. I'll come back and update if there are any glitches this time around, but that is how I have gone around it in the past.

I have no moral dilemma about doing this because they should hook you up for signing a new 2 year agreement and they are terrible about providing good deals to existing customers.

Good luck
-Matt

Also, FYI, when you order like this and the FIOS service is already installed at your residence, just select "Self Install" during your order and you will get $50 "Merchant" gift card along with your order. No idea what "merchant" it is, as I just ordered my service, but no point in having a technician come to the house anyways since everything is already set up and ready to go, just a matter of switching out the set top boxes they are sending with the new service and sending the old ones back with the "old" account.
did u get to keep the same phone number everytime while doing this?

Have any existing customers had success getting into this plan?
Not only have I had no success getting it, I tried the first business day following my installation and went through about a dozen CSRs between chat and phone. And that was from 79.99 no contract too.. so it wasnt even a price difference!

Excellent post. Thanks for "Self install" tip. It was awkward for me to explain to the technician coming to my house last year.
I was looking to do something similar, but the problem i have is...when you open up a new line/account with another name, doesn't that give you a completely new phone number?

Really curious about this also. How have those of you who have "moved out" handled this?

I don't have the choice of FIOS but this may help a family member.
