for about the last month twc has been upgrading their $$$$$$$ routers and have bumped up the standard 10/1 to 15/1 in some areas.

if you have a DOCSIS 2.0 modem and standard 10/1 (15/1) you will see your speed with powerboost as it stays on just long enough to trick the speedtest.

if you have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem you will not have powerboost and will see your true speed.

Side notes you can get the TWC discount if you have other internet choices in you area
If your only choice is TWC you are out of luck, they will not lower your monthly service charge.

Awesome thanks for the heads up, SoCal user here (outside LA) and when I log in and view services it shows me at 15/1 now.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the "rental fee" they are charging all of the users now, maybe this is a way to point at another "reason" for the extra cost. Bunch of crap but at least it is something extra now.

I'm already paying for 50 / 5 service (an arm and a leg by the way)...wonder if this gets me anything.

As always, I must add, I HATE TIME WARNER CABLE. That is all.

I must chuckle because they've been pushing me to upgrade via lots of calls lately for $15 more. Now I get the email and it's free. Hmm...

For the past two years, and up until a few weeks ago I was getting around 20mbps for standard internet, then it all of sudden dropped to14mbps. Plus, I pay a couple more bucks on my monthly bill now for less throughput. I HATE TWC!!! Horrible customer service and way overpriced products.

I was on RoadRunner basic (3/1) and was interested in upgrading to the next faster service. I used their online chat earlier this week to see what the costs were and they told me they could upgrade me to turbo for free, but I'd need to swap out my cable modem. They shipped the modem out to me for free (arrived in a few days) and I set it up in about 5 minutes. I checked out a speed test and my numbers were around 20/3. I had a pretty positive experience all around.

I used to have turbo, and got 20/3. I downgraded and get 18/1. I completed the reset, and I get 18/1.

Then again, there was an outage last friday, and I reset my modem 3 times before calling. They may have upgraded prior to the e-mail, and I ran my speedtest after they actually upgraded the service.

No complaining about 18/1, and that's with a dual-band router, 2 other devices on wi-fi, and a Powernet 100 ethernet-over-power line connection.
