for about the last month twc has been upgrading their $$$$$$$ routers and have bumped up the standard 10/1 to 15/1 in some areas.

if you have a DOCSIS 2.0 modem and standard 10/1 (15/1) you will see your speed with powerboost as it stays on just long enough to trick the speedtest.

if you have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem you will not have powerboost and will see your true speed.

Side notes you can get the TWC discount if you have other internet choices in you area
If your only choice is TWC you are out of luck, they will not lower your monthly service charge.

I'm getting 15/1 pretty consistently. However I've been having issues with streaming from amazon, YouTube and Hulu. For example, last night I rented a movie from amazon and it kept stopping and buffering and looked horrible when it did play. I got so frustrated that I decide to torrent the movie and watch it and delete it. The 1.3GB download took about 12 minutes (averaged around 1.7MBs). Anyone else having this kind of streaming issue when your downloads and speed tests are looking good?
This is something I'm experiencing too! so frustrating!

Me too. Also experiencing some problems. I remember having to get tech support to come over a couple years ago when I had problems with erratic speeds. He explained some stuff I didn't really understand too well.

He said he needed to make some adjustments that could only be done at my home. I don't know if that was true, but I always thought it was my modem since it has always been fixed after they changed the modem. So who knows?

Well just because you have fast and smooth Internet connection, it doesn't mean the server from which you stream the data is equally smooth at the time. YouTube, Hulu, and Amazon's servers are highly not likely to be always running without hiccups.

**WARNING**

I read this on slickdeals and completed a reset on my brother's modem (time warner). But before doing that I did a internet speed test at http://www.speedtest.net/. He was getting download speeds of around 27Mbps consistently. I did about 3-4 of these tests before resetting his modem because I wanted to see if this really did work. After I reset his modem he got 15Mbps download speeds and lower. Never did it go above 15Mbps, I felt so bad, I literally cut his internet speed in half. If I were you, do the internet speed test above and if your well aboev 15Mbps, DO NOT reset your modem... unless you want to downgrade your service. EEK!

That's probably what Time Warner is trying to do, lets be honest here.
