I think they took away the turbo boost. So longer transfers are faster but my speedtest.net actually decreased a little.

It's a plot to get you to hit your usage caps faster so they can charge you overages! Smilie

Does this apply to Earthlink customers? Earthlink uses Time Warner cable's cable lines.

Thanks OP. I noticed a difference (already on turbo).

Upload speed is still terrible but a boost from 70KB/s to ~240KB/s

Download went from 15Mbps to ~19-20Mbps

yeah i got this email a little bit ago.

it said to turn off my modem and wait for 10 seconds then restart. but my modem has a 4 hour backup battery (and im scared to take it out) so i just used the reset button but i'm not sure if it went through
You do know that the "reset" button is typically not the button that cycles the power right? I cant say for sure since I dont use Time Warner cable garbage but, typically the "reset" button is related to firmware and settings and is kind of dangerous to be messing with. That does NOT do the same thing as turning the modem off.

Does this work for time warner subsidiaries, like Bright House?

I'm already paying for 50 / 5 service (an arm and a leg by the way)...wonder if this gets me anything.

As always, I must add, I HATE TIME WARNER CABLE. That is all.
Same here, Signature Home, I also hate them but it's them or a dish and I don't want a dish.

I am also on 30/5 and I got the email saying "thanks". Stupid TWC, they can't even send proper targeted emails.

have been using TWC/ Earthink for couple years already. Once in a while, I test speed on speedtest.net. I haven't do the test for a while (couple months). I have always been getting 10/1. And just did the test again, seems it's 50% more. Now it's 15/1. OP, Thanks for the heads up. I feel a little bit better now for the high fee I'm paying twc each month!!!

Sorry OT but what is ping and is it better to be around 26 or 200? Sometimes I get speeds of 18 and sometimes 5. Always upload at around.85 or so. I swapped my webstar modem out for a Motorola 2161.
Ping is a measure of latency, which you want to be as low as possible. Consider it to be the "reaction" speed. The faster the reaction, the faster a connection/transfer can start (but the download/upload speed would then determine how fast you would download).

A ping of 26ms is 0.026 seconds to respond, a ping of 200 is 0.2 seconds, so the lower ping will react much quicker. In general a low ping is most important for online gaming.
