for about the last month twc has been upgrading their $$$$$$$ routers and have bumped up the standard 10/1 to 15/1 in some areas.

if you have a DOCSIS 2.0 modem and standard 10/1 (15/1) you will see your speed with powerboost as it stays on just long enough to trick the speedtest.

if you have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem you will not have powerboost and will see your true speed.

Side notes you can get the TWC discount if you have other internet choices in you area
If your only choice is TWC you are out of luck, they will not lower your monthly service charge.

I'm considering moving to TWC as U-verse are currently charging me $48/month for a 12/1 service. The TWC site lists Standard as $30/month for 12 months and with "up to 15 Mbps", so I guess this reflects the new speed-bump?

Has anyone else switched from U-verse to TWC? How does the service compare? The price and download speed seems favorable for my situation.

This has been available for a little over a month now, but since I did it last month I've been about 16mbps after turboboost, compared to 11 or 12 mbps.

Are you on the 10Mb plan? Do you have the modem from TW? If so, it's because of turboboost. Basically they burst you first 10s or so of speed, so speedtest.net result is not accurate.

I noticed the bump from 10 to 15 when I switched to my own modem last month. I thought it was because of the modem LOL. Did some search and read that TW started rolling out the upgrade.
Yes I am and yes it is for the last 6 yrs, I love this Motorola Surfboard. So every time I d/l something the first 10Mb are faster? Awesome!!!

Saw no significance in improvement in speed but like the reliability of TWC where I live.

Nice! Went from 10/1 to 25/1 in San Diego on speedtest after modem/computer restart. Test results might have just been due to turboboost, but higher speeds have also been evident with large downloads as well. Thanks!

I have the lowest tier in Durham NC and I've been getting 14 down (give or take) for a while now. So this is a regional thing, I guess.

Does this apply to Earthlink customers? Earthlink uses Time Warner cable's cable lines.

have been using TWC/ Earthink for couple years already. Once in a while, I test speed on speedtest.net. I haven't do the test for a while (couple months). I have always been getting 10/1. And just did the test again, seems it's 50% more. Now it's 15/1. OP, Thanks for the heads up. I feel a little bit better now for the high fee I'm paying twc each month!!!

seems work for me. I'm an earthlink customer too.wave
I am also a earthlink customer and i saw the increase and so far no extra charges
I use my own modem though

My max use to dl at 1.2MB
Now it goes at 1.75MB

Good thing too cause i considered moving to fios

Love free stuff

TWC still suck butt.

a) I'm paying $20 extra for 30/5, which is fair if not for the fact that...
b) Internet has been pretty congestive at night lately, when I'm actually home using it, and I barely get 2mbps.

Now there's no reason to be paying extra for "wideband" anymore. I'm going back to 10 (now 15) and save money.

no cap for the win! everything uses the internet, pc, cell phones on wifi, tv, roku, I easily go over the 150gb a month from DSL...but i'd never pay TWC prices! I'm good with $24 a month.

For the record I too hate Time Warner.
But once I did this I did notice a significant improvement. Still, it sucks for the people paying for turbo for the same speed.

turbo is 20/2. Don't really care about the difference from 15 to 20 on the download but 1 to 2 on the upload is huge for an HD sling box.

I'm on turbo and noticed no change. Still at 20/2.

I'll probably cancel my turbo ($5/mo) now with this deal.
