for about the last month twc has been upgrading their $$$$$$$ routers and have bumped up the standard 10/1 to 15/1 in some areas.

if you have a DOCSIS 2.0 modem and standard 10/1 (15/1) you will see your speed with powerboost as it stays on just long enough to trick the speedtest.

if you have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem you will not have powerboost and will see your true speed.

Side notes you can get the TWC discount if you have other internet choices in you area
If your only choice is TWC you are out of luck, they will not lower your monthly service charge.

some things need to be clarified here...

twc has been upgrading their $$$$$ routers in some areas.

for the last mounth twc has been upgrading 10/1 to 15/1 in some areas.

if you have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem then you are seeing your true speed w/o powerboost.

if you have a DOCSIS 2.0 modem and 10/1 then you are seeing your powerboost speed.

powerboost stays on just long enough to trick the speedtest.

This has made me appreciate comcast. I pay for 12/2 and get 20/35!! Speed boost is 50-75 when the download starts too!

From the diagram it shows, this is only for people with 10mbps internet. Resetting your router will result in 15mbps internet. TWC is great when it works, but I've had several outrages in the couple years I've used it. They always blame power lines and transformers, but I don't think those were the problems.

As far as I know (I work for TWC), this upgrade has only been done in New York areas and Hawaii. Others areas across the country will be upgraded on dates "TBD". It will happen very soon though for most of the rest of the country. Checked with our local tech engineer about this a few days ago.

Current subscribers with the older 15/1 Turbo may remove it at anytime by calling customer service since they will be receiving the upgrade soon anyways (monthly savings of $12.99).

I pay $49.99/mo for Turbo.

Time to downgrade to the $29.99/mo Standard Plan if it's only a 5 Mbps difference.

So is everybody being hit by that mistery fee? I was about to complain but since promo price hasn't ended. I have standard but been gettting 25Mbps in speestest since installation more than a year ago.
It's not a mystery fee. They're now charging for the modem. You can avoid it by buying your own modem.
