Picked up the Samsung last night for $229 after instant $20 discount. Watched Dark Knight Rises and early on detected that fluttering at about volume 28 and backed off. Watching Two Towers now and the dub is rattling like hell. Particularly when the ringwraithe is flapping it's wings in the big scene. Volume at 25 with sub set at +3 and the rattling (the woofer over extending) was clearly audible. Turned down to 20 and the sub set at 0, rattle still audible. Gonna return it and get another to see if same things are happening. Edit: After spending a few hours with it today, I think I'll be returning it. Total volume is nice, gets really loud. However, moderately bassy scenes like explosions, bass drums in the music, even horse footfalls have the sub rattling like hell (think, holding a piece of paper and blowing at really hard, that sound it makes, that's this sub when turned up to the high 20s and the sub set at 0. Additionally, hate the connections on it. One optical in with hdmi in and hdmi out. Really means that absent a hdmi switch you have to constantly move the hdmi connection from the blu-ray to the sat/cable box back and forth. You connect the blu-ray out to the sound bar in, then sound bar out to the tv in. But if you want to watch something on the sat/cable box you have re-route. Disconnect the blu-ray, the connect the sat/cable box to the soundbar, then soundbar to the sat/cable hdmi in on the tv. PITA. This also means that you have to turn on the tv to pass video to the tv which means even if you don't want to use the soundbar for audio, you have to turn it on to display a picture because the video source goes to the soundbar first. If you're going to get this unit be sure that you a) have a tv with a optical output in which case you connect the blu-ray and the sat/cable box hdmi directly to the tv and then send audio via optical to the bar; or you have a hdmi switch so you connect multiple sources to the soundbar. I have a Dynex lcd in the bedroom that only came with a digital coax for audio, not optical. My Sony in the living room which has optical would make this soundbar more user-friendly. But, as always, know what your tv can do. Some tv's like the Panny's will downsource your audio to pass out over the optical and there is some loss. If so, and you're sensitive about this, well, you may want to look at other options. Last edited by jonsmith74; 12-27-2012 at 04:55 PM.. |

Just wanted to mention that the Chobani is a *really* good deal with this month's coupon. At my store, it's $13.89 for the 15 pack. The coupon takes off $4.20 making it $9.69 for 15 units or .65 per yogurt. There are very rarely coupons or good sales like this for Chobani. I just wish the cases at my Costco had longer expiration dates.

One thing they mentioned was that if you do not earn at least 55 (difference between regular and exec. membership) with your 2% CB they would reimburse you the difference at the end of the year. |
