Not true. My dog was eating the Salmon & Sweet Potato and it says the dates affected are from 12/9/12 - 1/31/13. I was on my 2nd bag of that (bought in that time period) and my dog just stopped eating it. Would occasionally get sick. Didn't happen on her first bag. Brought her to the vet and got blood work, etc and just came back as allergies. Unfortunately I threw the bag away last night. What fortunate timing of me to see this posted today. Since she got bloodwork done and everything came back clear, I'm going to assume she didn't get salmonella poisoning. She's been on a new food for a few weeks now and is doing fine. Just seemed like it was bad food. Without a receipt and without the bag, I'm SOL though in regards to the recall, right?


Edit: Nevermind, it looks as if the dates they list are the "Best Before" dates. Highly doubt the best before date was in the same time range as the time I bought it. I guess the vet was right, it was just allergies. The vet highly recommended the food though. She said it's as good as the high end stuff at a cheaper price. Unfortunately, just wasn't right for my dog.

Yeah, it was the best by date. The recall was back in May if I remember correctly. It was my first time seeing the article as well, luckily my dogs never got sick.

Regarding the food, did you buy her/him the same flavor of food? My dogs don't do well with any food unless it is Chicken and Rice.

Yes, it was the exact same kind. I've had my dog for almost 2 years now and have yet to find her a food that she isn't allergic too. It's not too bad, just a lot of scratching, licking and scooting. What happened with that last bag of Costco food she's never done before and hasn't since, so who knows what happened.

Have you tried the single protein source foods from the vet?

The vet told me to try Limited Ingredient Foods for now. I tried Natural Balance with Chicken and Rice and it didn't work. It's been about 3 weeks, so I'm going to try switching within the same brand to a different protein today. She's also been on salmon and bison before (different brand) with no results.

Is this the same thing you're talking about from the vet? Is it possible she's allergic to all meats? I find that very hard to believe. There has to be something else.

Side note: Almost all the food she's been on has been grain free.

I think I noticed that it was $2.15 or so in my store.
