You can find a lot of other customers who have issues with shipping on the Lenovo community forums. took some people over a month to receive their laptops - some were manufactured as orders came in.

This is true. I ordered my laptop on 11/26 and got on 12/16. I returned after using for 1 day. Shipping date is not reliable.

No, most failures will occur within the first few months while you are still covered under the manufacture's warranty. Use a credit card that offers free extended warranty protection (usually it is double the original).
