I have a 58" Samsung Plasma in a very well lit living room and I have no issues with the glare (during reasonable conditions, in the middle of the afternoon when the sun is shining right in the window it's obviously hard to see the picture, but this will be the case with any TV). Plasma's have changed a lot since the days of screen burn and terrible glare.
I would highly recommend a plasma, the contrast and refresh rate will be better than any LCD/LED. I've heard the LED's are catching up to Plasma but I do think plasma is the best you can get for your money. Only issue you'll potentially have is finding one bigger than 65" The other really nice thing about the plasma is you can view it from any angle without losing picture quality. We have it in a large living room and have chairs off to the side, you can still comfortably watch the TV and not feel like you're missing out on something (go to Best Buy and check how other TV's look from a side view)
we have models 2 and 3 years old in similar sizes and love them. This is a brand link and not a good price right now.
avs forums are great for picking out your set, asking questions, looking at problems others are having or asking for advice on a tv
after your decide which models you may want, then look for a deal. doing the reverse may not be a wise investment.
