If you have a Harbor Freight near you, you can get this drill for $15 after 20% off coupon .....oh wait, you asked if there a was a "good" drill....I have no idea if it's good (probably not that great), but for $15 you will get at least what you pay for (I hope)....just don't expect to drill into concrete or hard woods for very long....and I would stay away from cordless tools from harbor freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/3-8-...-3670.html 20% off coupon http://www.harborfreight.com/affi...?hftref=cj If you don't have a harbor freight near you, then order this one online and use coupon code# 88058583 for 20% off (valid till 3/18/13)....for $24 total (shipping probaly extra $7). http://www.harborfreight.com/heav...98179.html I guess I don't know of a place to get a "good" drill for cheap...but you can get a drill for cheap and it may be good?? |

Just an fyi to people getting these kits or using any other method to restore their headlights:
You should use a sealant after any polish job ( UV clear coat or synthetic wax) and make sure to keep them 'waxed' every time you wax the rest of the car. Also, if your headlights are not 100% sealed and have had a yellow haze due to water on the inside buffing the outside won't do you much good. There is a more complicated way of dealing with this problem, but it's usually more trouble then it's worth and depends on the car. (For instance: On the Acura Integra, you can put the headlamp in the oven for a few minutes to melt the silicone sealent around the headlight > remove the plastic cover > buff the inside > reseal) P.S> Sealant is STRONGLY recommended in hot or humid climates (florida). However, regardless of area, it will prolong the clear life of your headlights. Last edited by JustHereF; 12-24-2012 at 01:31 PM.. |

I read around some forums about a year ago about repairing (sanding and buffing) headlight lenses and read that the lenses turn opaque because the UV coating has degraded, and everyone says once you do sand/polish them, since you completely remove the UV coating, you'll have to always do it every few months unless you re-apply a UV coating. Some people recommended a few UV sealants, which they said were good but you had to order online and were I think around $15-$25 + shipping. Since that time, I've noticed walmart now has 2-3 different UV coatings. Does anyone know if they, or the one in the 3M kit, is really sufficient to keep from having to re-sand the lenses, or if you need the more expensive stuff (and do they really work)? If I could get at least a year after repairing, that's good enough.
FYI, I noticed in "similar threads" below, that there are several threads for deals on this kit. Might be some more info there. Last edited by Slickone_; 12-26-2012 at 12:38 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

No , I have not had to redo them . Had some sets for 2 1/2 years and still looked great . I can send you some pics of a set I did for my sister-in-law if you pm me your email address . Got a good before and after pic of hers , off a Grand Am and they were really bad shape . |

Any idea how this kit compares to the Harbor Freight headlight restoration kit? It can be had any day for around $7 with a coupon:
